kraem: I think geary is supposed to be pretty lightweight and easy to use.. I'm using evolution myself, though.
<buckley310>
i just started using geary this week. it feels pretty lightweight and friendly, although it might depend on the gnome online-accounts infrastructure
<buckley310>
when you click the button to add an account it just opens the gnome control panel for me. not sure if there is a fallback mode

I am in such an incredibly uncomfortable headspace right now
<etu>
gchristensen: jetlagged? :)
<gchristensen>
in my hotel room desperately wanting to sleep and not sleep
* etu
just finished the first version of his password-store extension
<das_j>
And I thought we were the only ones coming at Thursday
<__monty__>
It checks a pass database to some leaked passwords databases?
<etu>
__monty__: yes
<etu>
I have a bit of readme now :)

And a screenshot, such wow :)
<__monty__>
etu: Pretty cool. Didn't feel like going for that posix compat?
<etu>
__monty__: you mean like not printing anything and just have exit codes? :)
<etu>
__monty__: I could have a flag for that
<__monty__>
etu: No, I'm talking about the shebang.
<__monty__>
BSD systems don't always have bash.
<gchristensen>
woohoo, I'm /0 VPN'd over wg
<etu>
__monty__: pass is written in bash, and requires bash afaik
<gchristensen>
etu: this is great! I'd like to use this
<etu>
__monty__: And since it runs inside of pass -- there's no point to it :)
<__monty__>
etu: Valid argument.

Anyone else (trying to) get to Brno via Salzburg and Vienna (EC217, RJX161) rn?
<__monty__>
etu: I wonder whether the range lookup doesn't *still* leak a lot of info though? If I check a single password with its prefix and I get ~500 result hashes. Haven't I just reduced the entropy of my password to 1/500?
<__monty__>
Is that channel suitable for people who are sitting at home, envious? ; )
<gchristensen>
sure
<samueldr>
hey, since we're speaking fonts
<samueldr>
you know the hate about comic sans ms, and papyrus
<samueldr>
first of all. meh
<samueldr>
but let's ignore that
<etu>
__monty__: Well, that I won't decide for you :)
<samueldr>
if you want to be cursd in noticing another font, one that generally, up to now, passes freely
<gchristensen>
__monty__: I think only if there are 500 possible passwords, which isn't true -- there are infinite number of passwords with thath prefix
<samueldr>
you may start seeing it with great frequency, now that you can identify it :)
<__monty__>
gchristensen: Oh, yeah. Thanks. Wasn't thinking right. Was reasoning that your password would be one of the ~500 returned but that'd only be the case if it's been leaked.
<etu>
__monty__: If your password is leaked and there's 500 results. Sure, yours is one out of 500. But if it isn't leaked, it's out of that range
<etu>
:)
<gchristensen>
and hibp doesn't know
<etu>
I think that api is pretty solid
<gchristensen>
samueldr: oh no
<etu>
oh well
<etu>
I should get packing, eat some lunch and to go Brno :)
<talyz>
buckley310: Yeah, probably. Evolution does too, but it can still be used outside gnome as long as the online-accounts service is running :)
<__monty__>
Ok, so quick back of napkin reasoning suggests giving away the 5 hexit prefix reduces the entropy of your password about a million-fold.

i remember trying to package... sumologic? and it did all that stuff. also very weak os detection and it would hard code paths to certain utils. drove me bonkers.

joepie91: I've read it. UTC everywhere plus a table of business hours would be better than timezone insanity. I had to deal with an email yesterday that said "are you free for a call at 2:30?".
* joepie91
just coordinates appointments in UTC already
<jackdk>
Me too, but if I ruled the world, I'd say "well we tried giving you timezones and you made a mess of it, so I'm taking them away"
