<pie_> joepie91: oh, i tried registering for hetzner again and succeeded this time
<joepie91> pie_: \o/
<pie_> joepie91: do i just transfer to the bank acct? how do they know which user?
<pie_> nothing says anything about adding something to the message field
<joepie91> pie_: uh I dunno, I gave them my IBAN and they do the charge themselves
<pie_> oh
<joepie91> it's a direct debit
<joepie91> at least for me
<pie_> maybe i picked the wrong one
* pie_ clicks sepa instead
<pie_> hm woukld be nice if i can just transfer a fixed amount of credit thogh
<pie_> would be nice if they had some proper documentation on their payment methods
<joepie91> might be on their wiki somewhere
<pie_> ok the thing i was looking at seems to be that they invoice you after stuff and then you pay to their bank acct and that probably has some transaction id
<pie_> i was hoping i could just put some fixed amount of cash on and not go over that
<__monty__> Is that a popular model for cloud computing? Most seem to be pay X amount monthly and more if you go over your limits.
<pie_> i idk, probably not
<joepie91> most providers charge you a fixed fee per month and you either cannot go over resources (RAM, disk, ..) or if you go over resources your server gets suspended until the next billing cycle or an upgrade (network traffic)
<joepie91> Hetzner is the same afaik, though I think they throttle your network rather than suspending your server
<pie_> yeah i didnt pick anything thats like, bill per resource or whatever
<pie_> unrelated question, how the heck do i open the window switchi thing in androiid 9 argh
<averell> they throttle after 20TB unless you buy more, but it's still kinda cheap traffic
<pie_> im not goung to use 20tb any tim soon
<Taneb> Gonan install a tiling WM on my lapton tonight I think
<Taneb> *Gonna
<Taneb> *laptop
<Taneb> ...if I'm making this many typos maybe I should wait until after I've had a night's sleep

<qyliss> averell: per month?
Synthetica has quit [Quit: Connection closed for inactivity]
<averell> yes, a month (the dedis only)
<averell> throttling is not monthly then though.

<Profpatsch> Okay, but after this I’ll /part again :P
<qyliss> extremely legit
<qyliss> (we're here from #nixos-dev, for the onlookers wanting backlog)
<qyliss> Anyway, it's funny that discussion platforms came up right now, as I'm writing documentation for how to use a mailing list :)
<infinisil> qyliss: Question regarding loomio, how did you find it not nice to use?
<infinisil> I'm just checking it out and it seems pretty good at first sight
<qyliss> well, I have to use it from a web browser for one
<qyliss> i'm also pretty it does stuff like visualisations of arguments and stuff, but have no idea how to find them
Church- is now known as in_hiding
<qyliss> infinisil: have you seen hyperkitty btw?
<infinisil> Nope
<infinisil> Reading what it does, sounds pretty good
in_hiding is now known as Church-
<infinisil> Looks like a neat frontend for a mailing lists
<qyliss> i think it looks fantastic
<qyliss> not software i'd particularly like to use personally, but a great option to have
<qyliss> I'd really like to see it used in place of discourse almost everywhere
<infinisil> The mail pre/suffixes do look a bit weird, but otherwise that's pretty neat
<infinisil> Also I can't seem to collapse threads
<qyliss> that's running an old-ish version
<qyliss> they may have added it
<qyliss> but if not that would be a good feature
<qyliss> if not, I might try adding it
<qyliss> I really really really want to have a mailing list that everybody is happy and comfortable using
<qyliss> and am willing to do quite a lot of work to make that happen
<drakonis1> is this about ressurecting nixos mailing lists?
<samueldr> no
<samueldr> not directly
<qyliss> no no no
<samueldr> by "not directly" I meant "I don't want to put unspoken words in anyone's mouth"
<drakonis1> alright
<qyliss> I think that ship has sailed
<qyliss> Just talking about what I'm trying to do for a new project
<drakonis1> ah okay
<qyliss> speaking of, though, if anybody wants to give me feedback on the content https://spectrum-os.org/git/?p=about I'd appreciate it.
<qyliss> especially if you're not familiar with the workflow
<samueldr> I would highlight the "you don't even have to be subscribed" bit
<samueldr> in some way
<samueldr> mailing lists are scary initially; and I thouht for the longest time that you *had* to subscribe to get involved in anything working with a mailing list
<samueldr> scary for some people*
<qyliss> very good piont
<samueldr> it's good that the linked instructions have Nixpkgs instructions
<qyliss> Yeah
<qyliss> I'd like to link to, like, #nixpkgs, but it doesn't support that
<qyliss> I might send a patch
<qyliss> samueldr: I've bolded the two things you don't have to do
<qyliss> reckon that helps?
<qyliss> I think it's still a little difficult to pick them out because the content is too wide in large displays
<qyliss> but I'm working on that
