<samueldr>
weird how on the "pulse" page, PRs are not "Open", but "Proposed"
<simpson>
Hm. In the name of security, could somebody either invite me to Lobsters or let folks at https://lobste.rs/s/e36giy/peertube_hits_1_0_0 know that Peertube doesn't provide metadata privacy? Peers know which videos you've watched.

Chocobozzz/PeerTube#316 (by tdelmas, 32 weeks ago, closed): Privacy of the viewers
<drakonis_>
no idea how you're not invited
<simpson>
I'm an antisocial misanthrope who generally hates stuff.
<drakonis_>
join the party
<simpson>
And I know that Lobsters invites come with a poisoned-root sort of policy.
<drakonis_>
do they?
<simpson>
I've gotten like half-a-dozen accounts banned from HN, and Lobsters is basically HN but with fewer people.
<drakonis_>
lobsters was spawned from HN because HN is bad
<drakonis_>
and the mods are bad
<simpson>
But yeah, on topic, I sincerely worry that PeerTube's designers have totally ignored basic rules of 2018 security, and somebody's gotta say something.
<drakonis_>
i'm incredibly lazy atm to log into my account to invite
<jasongrossman>
I agree ... but that's only FWIW. I don't have anything to do with lobsters.
<simpson>
Thanks! I put effort into finding sources.
<emily>
simpson: wait, how did you get half a dozen accounts banned on HN?
<simpson>
emily: Most memorably, I had a psych experiment to see how strong the correlation between ignorant outrage and upvotes was (super-strong, but above ~20pts you risk the banhammer), I had a short anti-scientism PSA, and I can't remember the others.
<simpson>
Scientism is *big* on HN.
<drakonis_>
they're actually very interested in the idea that they're rational and totally not emotional
<simpson>
I think it's nothing short of hilarious that there's at least four distinct rationalist skeptic styles out there and all of them elbow for room at the rationalist thought-table.
<simpson>
It's up there with Bayesian rationalists using feelings to estimate priors.
<drakonis_>
that's silly to read
<drakonis_>
as far as i know, lobsters should be fine
<jasongrossman>
simpson: I don't know about hilarious, but it's at least very interesting. I've lost count of the number of prima facie ridiculous things (some of them actually true IMO, but still prima facie ridiculous) that skeptics will happily believe just because they're said by scientists.
<emily>
lobsters has plenty of terrible comments too, sadly.
<jasongrossman>
Most everywhere does. Not nixos-chat though.
<drakonis_>
the norm is less terrible posting at least
<emily>
I agree, I like it a lot more than HN
<simpson>
Disregard people, acquire cats.
<emily>
simpson++
<{^_^}>
simpson's karma got increased to 1
<emily>
I would like a website like lobsters except only cats are allowed to post on it. it'd just all be mews and keymashing.
<emily>
the links would still be technology

I thought you might have a separate function which you pass builtins.currentTime into
