I could check generate-config if it somehow displays, what I can filter out
<Ke>
I guess anything sound or networking can go
<Ke>
is generate config module list generation just som trivial filter for lsmod?

<Ke>
foreach my $path (glob "/sys/class/{block,mmc_host}/") {
<sphalerite>
that's pretty much what nixos-generate-config does I think
<sphalerite>
(or is that from nixos-generate-config?)
<Ke>
yes
<samueldr>
I wonder what could make that samsung (exynos) device fail to start in that way... "A start job is running for Journal Service" same image that works on other devices
<samueldr>
hm, maybe the persistent storage vanished?
<samueldr>
"Dependency failed for Flush Journal to Persistent Storage"
<Ke>
are all mounts ok?
<samueldr>
they should be, from stage-1, but I have zero eyes into stage-2
<Ke>
well I guess that was your question
<samueldr>
other than the console
<Ke>
maybe configure journald to do only volatile logging for now?
<samueldr>
or, I should say, I have only the VT to peer into, no login prompt, no ssh
<samueldr>
that'll be hard without a system to rebuild :)
<samueldr>
(I'll build an image I guess)
<samueldr>
cw: old kernels I should check with another 3.18 device
<samueldr>
first exynos device, maybe there's something odd with their storage
<samueldr>
and the filesystem should all be in order, it's been e2fsck'd in stage-1, before being expanded
<samueldr>
(and the image does work on other phones)
<samueldr>
boots fine on another 3.18 device... that will be a mystery to investigate tomorrow
<sphalerite>
setting up the honeycomb with tmpfs as root :D
<samueldr>
are we tomorrow yet?
<samueldr>
I had an idea to check for an updated release, as lineageOS' is old... for ancient kernel standard
<samueldr>
TWRP had a more up-to-date version
<samueldr>
and it works
<sphalerite>
yay!
<sphalerite>
The fan speed is a lot more consistent when building a kernel, now that I'm booting from eMMC

Emil Karlson: I'm building 5.11-rc2 now and will report how it goes :)

Fixed the build, but it didn't boot. Needs some more work…
<LinuxHackerman>
In the meantime, I'm having an odd issue with networking. The Gigabit Ethernet port works fine when booting from the USB stick, but not when booting from eMMC. It worked previously, but now even old generations from eMMC don't seem to have working networking.
