<LnL> aaaah, why does nix copy --to file:///foo allow creating archives without a signature
<manveru> because then you couldn't copy stuff without signature :)
<manveru> you could just run verify on it first and only copy then?
<manveru> granted, it surprised me too :(
<LnL> and copy doesn't replace existing archives so I had to manually hunt down the unsigned paths to remove them
<domenkozar> well it's good that it doesn't
<domenkozar> append-only is non destructive :P

<Profpatsch> It’s time for Munihac! https://munihac.github.io/
<Profpatsch> (Haskell Conference in Munich, Bavaria, also for beginners, 16.–18.11.2018)
<Profpatsch> I am going to be there if at all possible.
<andi-> Sounds tempting... About a month to refresh my haskell :D

<{^_^}> #47925 (by edef1c, 43 seconds ago, open): git: 2.18.0 -> 2.18.1 (CVE-2018-17456)
<{^_^}> #47924 (by edef1c, 5 minutes ago, open): git: 2.19.0 -> 2.19.1 (CVE-2018-17456)
<edef> given that they're security fixes
<edef> (i know gchristensen is currently not available, but it's slipped my mind who else handles security things)
bgamari has quit [Ping timeout: 252 seconds]
<andi-> edef: i guess 18.03 is also affected? Could you provide a PR for that as well?
<edef> oh, yeah
<edef> ooh. 18.03 is on git 2.16
<edef> unsure if i should a) upgrade git to 2.17, which has a bugfix release
<edef> b) backport the patch
<edef> guess i'll have a shot at backporting
<edef> oh wait no
<edef> 2.16.5 is patched, lovely
<edef> the 2.17/2.18 releases just add a detection feature to fsck
<{^_^}> #47926 (by edef1c, 15 seconds ago, open): git: 2.16.4 -> 2.16.5 (CVE-2018-17456)
<andi-> edef: thanks, will have a look once at the desk again
<edef> ^_^
<domenkozar> btw was 18.09 released?
<andi-> not to my knowledge
<LnL> don't think so
<gchristensen> soon
<domenkozar> what's blocking, can I help?
<andi-> domenkozar: there is a ZHF issue for it and a milestone
<domenkozar> well ZHF shouldn't block the release
<gchristensen> I think nothing other than North American working hours is blocking it
<domenkozar> heh
<domenkozar> well, it's not funny :)
<gchristensen> what isn't?
<domenkozar> let me know if I can help somehow release go out
<gchristensen> oh, of course -- I think he's ready to finish it when he's done with work today
<domenkozar> oh I thought you mean long working hours :)
<domenkozar> ok :)
<gchristensen> nah, it is just still during the normal work day

<samueldr> and my normal work day ends late since I'm the kind that starts the days later rather than earlier
<gchristensen> no worries
<samueldr> am not :)
<samueldr> >> Change stableBranch to true and wait for channel to update.
<samueldr> I think that's a hydra setting, right?
<gchristensen> yeah, I can do that!
<samueldr> nix 2.1.1 as fallback paths is fine I gather
<gchristensen> done, samueldr
<gchristensen> should be fine
<gchristensen> triggered evals
<samueldr> gchristensen: :o a tad early, it might be missing the just now cherry-picked release-notes commit
<gchristensen> oops :)
<gchristensen> I'll re-trigger
<samueldr> (though I guess no issues there since anyways the next eval will take care of it and share most of the build)
<gchristensen> samueldr: did we miss a step? the tarball is still named 18.09pre https://hydra.nixos.org/build/82507593#tabs-details
<samueldr> if so, it would be missing?
* gchristensen looks
<samueldr> I would understand that this is something hydra gives to release.nix
phreedom_ has quit [Ping timeout: 256 seconds]
<gchristensen> yeah
<gchristensen> stableBranch is set to true ...
* samueldr continues preparing the homepage update and announcements
<gchristensen> I'll keep looking at this.
phreedom has joined #nixos-dev
<gchristensen> probably not as part of the release process
<samueldr> good, as I thought
<gchristensen> nice search :)
<gchristensen> c'mon now, nixos-18.09-small is done, but the hydra frontend hasn't caught up with it yet
