<ashkitten>
that's still fixed width pages of text

just cuz it's a scroll and not a book doesnt matter
<ashkitten>
tho scrolls are super annoying to get to a specific page in

ashkitten: really? I'd expect that you could mark them and "fast-forward" to the bit you want by spinning one side
<ashkitten>
you'd put way too much stress on it by only rotating one side
<ashkitten>
you have to turn them both at once
<ashkitten>
with larger scrolls (like the torah) you need 2 people
<ashkitten>
well, some people can do it on their own i guess
<sphalerite>
or you could make a "drive belt" sort of thing to turn both sides at the same time?
<ashkitten>
i guess, if you're not talking about using it on a religious text lol

Why not? Speedreading is totally a valid way of consuming information ; )

infinisil: the znapzend config format is so terrible lol
<sphalerite>
also in "terrible": the results of (1) suspending windows to disk (2) removing disk from machine (3) fiddling with files on another machine (4) putting disk back in the original machine and booting it up from the suspended state
<cransom>
+1 to znapzend config format being horrible and also hard for me to type.
<sphalerite>
D:
<samueldr>
sphalerite: that's why it sets a dirty bit telling you not to play with the contents of the disk!
<sphalerite>
samueldr: ah. I'm guessing the person who did (2) and (3) probably clicked something to mount it anyway :|
<samueldr>
likely!
<__monty__>
What's the result?
<__monty__>
I'd imagine with linux it could be fine as long as you didn't touch the swap partition/file?
<sphalerite>
__monty__: no, since part of the filesystem state will be in the swapfile…
<sphalerite>
so the booted system has a state of the filesystem that's inconsistent with the on-disk state. The results can be calamitous.
<sphalerite>
Just how calamitous, I have yet to find out
<gchristensen>
dang, znapzend really chainsed me just now
psyanticy has quit [Quit: Connection closed for inactivity]
<gchristensen>
I created a new snapshot to transfer over to a new pool and then held it, and now znapzend can't send since it can't delete the snap to roll back to the latest sent snap even though they're the same
<gchristensen>
I guess I could bookmark it (thanks elvishjerricco) and then unhold the snap
