<samueldr>
I *need* this to generate proper images for stage-2
<samueldr>
and nixos needs this too
<aanderse>
samueldr: you're making it so i can define my partitions in configuration.nix from the nixos installer by chance? :)
<samueldr>
no
<aanderse>
:(
<aanderse>
lol
<gchristensen>
please no
<samueldr>
sorry if it's what it looks like :)
<aanderse>
random link, clicked, no context, hoped for the best ;-)
<samueldr>
though, it *could* be used to do that too
<gchristensen>
you don't want to define partitions in your configuration.nix :(
<samueldr>
if I factor out the sfdisk scripts
<samueldr>
but I do not intend to do that
<samueldr>
it's to generate disk images
<gchristensen>
please don't accidentally yourself
<samueldr>
like sd_image, the iso image, probably the ec2 images
<samueldr>
maybe the virtualbox one too
<aanderse>
ha ha ha yeah i've never really thought about it too much gchristensen but that is a good point
<aanderse>
maybe for the best
<samueldr>
I mean, you could do it safely, by not doing it in the configuration, but building a shell script that has an sfdisk "script" prepared
<samueldr>
so you can nix-build ./partitions.nix && sudo ./result /dev/previousdata
<gchristensen>
"The return hash contains a role field which refers to the Organization Invitation role and will be one of the following values: direct_member, admin, billing_manager, hiring_manager, or reinstate" hmm

samueldr / gchristensen: it doesn't seem to be USB port restricted anymore. Managed to boot an Arch Linux ISO from any of the USB ports. Just the NixOS image hangs on booting.
<andi->
Will investigate today..

<colemickens>
gchristensen can you remind me how to debug packet user-data for nixos?
<colemickens>
tried grepping through journalctl and dmesg for 'user-data' and 'userdata' but didnt see much
<kraem>
etu: i might have to cop a ticket to nixcon because of those 😛'
<samueldr>
gnome-disk-image-mounter is so useful
<infinisil>
samueldr: Not available in NA?
<samueldr>
infinisil: they ship only in europe and UK
<samueldr>
additionally, the band availability is not ideal for, at leat, the USA
<infinisil>
I see
<kraem>
feels weird that you have to start saying EU+UK soon
<infinisil>
europe /= EU though
<infinisil>
There are a bunch of countries not in the EU but still in europe
<samueldr>
and territories not in europe
<vika_nezrimaya>
Emacs in Termux is so beautiful
<vika_nezrimaya>
right now I'm using emacsclient via ssh via termux
<adisbladis>
samueldr: If you'd like to I could take delivery in the UK and hand it over at nixcon?
<kraem>
yeah of course, I just came to think of it when the I read "europe and UK"
<adisbladis>
vika_nezrimaya: With an on-screen keyboard? :O
<vika_nezrimaya>
yes!
<vika_nezrimaya>
I'm using Gboard to type this
<vika_nezrimaya>
And Termux adds its own row of keys
<adisbladis>
Sounds horrible, I like it :3
<vika_nezrimaya>
by the way, Evil-mode or vim are the best things you could ever use with a smartphone keyboard
<vika_nezrimaya>
since most simple actions don't require pressing several keys at once
<vika_nezrimaya>
/
<vika_nezrimaya>
and chatting on IRC is great
<samueldr>
adisbladis: it was more of a general annoyance at y'all europeans getting the good devices :)
<adisbladis>
samueldr: Ok :)
<vika_nezrimaya>
Termux allows to swipe on an additional key row to open a text field where your autocorrection works
<samueldr>
adisbladis: I don't have the budget for that, and have more phones than ears :)
<adisbladis>
Anyway, if you ever want anything not shipping to canada just say the word
<adisbladis>
vika_nezrimaya: Actually I'd quite like an Ofono interface for emacs
<vika_nezrimaya>
Ofono?
<adisbladis>
vika_nezrimaya: A dbus api/daemon for interfacing with telephone hardware
<adisbladis>
To make calls and such :)
<vika_nezrimaya>
calling and SMS from emacs
<vika_nezrimaya>
sounds interesting

My dream smartphone is one with a keyboard good enough to live in emacs on the phone too
<vika_nezrimaya>
I want something built around Org-mode, not necessarily Emacs
<vika_nezrimaya>
I'd like a bigger screen. like in my Lumia 1520 which is stuck with Windows Phone and doesn't have a bootloader unlock method or a custom ROM
<vika_nezrimaya>
bigger screen, GNU/Linux not Android
<vika_nezrimaya>
Purism builds a phone based on GNOME shell
<vika_nezrimaya>
too bad I don't have the money to buy it...
<vika_nezrimaya>
if only I could draw so people could send me money for it
<vika_nezrimaya>
I can't draw. The only things I can do are Python and Nix
<drakonis>
draw using computers then.
<vika_nezrimaya>
HTML is good for drawing, I've heard
<drakonis>
technically speaking, if purism's phone achieves some measure of adoption, a org-mode based application would be great.
<vika_nezrimaya>
especially when you put so much JS in a page it refuses to load
<vika_nezrimaya>
corporations like this
<drakonis>
run org-mode on top of emacs as an application and enjoy the goodness of notes on your phone
<vika_nezrimaya>
drakonis: I plan to do this! but I need a server for storing my notes
<drakonis>
have purism's OS be what tizen failed to be
<vika_nezrimaya>
and... My server is armv7l so I need cross-compilation to work in Nixpkgs
<vika_nezrimaya>
so I'm working on it
<drakonis>
i'd definitely buy a purism 5 if it wasnt expensive
<drakonis>
librem 5 that is.

<sphalerite>
Does anyone know things about SIP?
<sphalerite>
Because I'd quite like to get my landline phone connection working, and that's proving to be nontrivial
<sphalerite>
I've managed to make a call or two using android's built-in client, but it's awful and horrendously unreliable and I can't seem to receive calls through it
<sphalerite>
so I'd appreciate a client recommendation
<sphalerite>
(probably for my laptop and not for android)
<sphalerite>
but also an answer to a simple question: wat?
<sphalerite>
I just tried using ekiga, it doesn't want to log into the account, saying "Remote party host is offline"
<samueldr>
sphalerite: on android I use CSIPSimple
<samueldr>
though I don't make/receive calls much, so I haven't tried desktop clients since a while ago
<sphalerite>
hm, it doesn't seem to be in fdroid :/
<samueldr>
yeah
<samueldr>
last time I checked, IIRC there were no clients that worked well on f-droid for me
<sphalerite>
hm ok, a few tries later, ekiga seems to be registered
<sphalerite>
and I can receive calls \o/
<sphalerite>
leaving the question… how do I _make_ calls? x)
<samueldr>
dial?
<adisbladis>
sphalerite: Use a phone booth like everyone else ;)
<sphalerite>
samueldr: not sure what exactly to dial, just the number gives me "User is not available"
