<manveru> LnL: btw, i tried your <nix/config.nix> example, but it's broken... :|
<manveru> for some reason the builder isn't getting bind mounted
<sphalerite> manveru: using show-derivation you can see that the drv doesn't retain references to the store path in question
<sphalerite> manveru: I'm guessing the string in <nix/config.nix> doesn't have the necessary context
<manveru> probably
<sphalerite> I wonder how it's done in nixpkgs's bootstrap
<sphalerite> it's... not?
<manveru> that's the config.nix
<manveru> quite strange that it simply uses strings
<manveru> no way they end up in the sandbox
<sphalerite> yeah
<manveru> so i guess that's only useful for bootstrapping without sandbox?
<sphalerite> that, or you can somehow add the context to the string
<sphalerite> ah so nixpkgs's bootstrap gets its tools using <nix/fetchurl.nix>
<sphalerite> and doesn't use <nix/config.nix> at all
<manveru> oh well, that's a puzzle for another time, got work to do :)
<manveru> just a shame, wanted to show some example of the bootstrapping
<sphalerite> well you could use nixpkgs's stdenv bootstrap as an example of bootstrapping with nix
<manveru> i think that's a bit too complex for the first nix session
<LnL> manveru: hmm, works fine
<manveru> it works without sandboxing
<manveru> so... i guess you don't use that on darwin :)
<LnL> just did :p
<manveru> wut
<sphalerite> manveru: it's not actually that complex. It just fetches a tarball really

<sphalerite> Trying to run Black Mesa… It was trying to load libtcmalloc_minimal.so.4, but this library wasn't shipped with it for one reason or another. But patchelfing it out makes it work \o/
<lassulus> black mesa runs natively on linux?
<sphalerite> yep
<sphalerite> well aaaaactually it doesn't seem to be running very well after all
<sphalerite> it did in the past though
<sphalerite> oh wait it seems I just needed to run it from steam
<sphalerite> a lot of the models seem to be a lot less colourful than they're supposed to be.
<sphalerite> it works in principle though :p
<sphalerite> yeah no it seems an update in April broke linux support mostly and they haven't bothered fixing it yet

<andi-> To the US guys here: I ordered something from the US (yet another keyboard) and Amazon says "Shipped with GWUI" which company is that? I can't seem to figure out what that could possible is..
<simpson> andi-: "Geodis Wilson", although that's their old name: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SNCF_Logistics
<andi-> thanks! :-)
<gchristensen> neverheard of either of them :P
<simpson> gchristensen: Maybe scroll through the "History" section and see if anything stands out. I don't recognize them either.
<andi-> It is probably one level below what we usually see
