<infinisil>
I just had this great idea:
<infinisil>
When I make popcorn, I want to make sure that I get the maximum amount of good pops: Not many burnt ones, but not many unpopped ones either
<infinisil>
Now the only data I have to optimize this is: The audio of the single pops, and I can count the final result (how many are burnt, how many are unpopped)
<infinisil>
What if I made a program that listens to the pops and tells me when I should stop the microwave! Would need a learning phase in which I manually count them, but after that it would turn into some neat equations to solve
<MichaelRaskin>
And then you create a sieve that allows you to keep the popped ones and return the unpopped ones into the microwave.
<infinisil>
But.. That requires hardware!
<MichaelRaskin>
Cheaper than the microphone you will end up getting to improve pop recogniion
<infinisil>
I really like this idea because there's lots of things involved: DSP, equations, some machine learning, popcorn
