<andi-> shifted my focus from getting openjdk to work to building kodi with gcj instead.. seems more reasonable.. (for now) Java is depressing as hell

<arianvp> hey flokli
<arianvp> I'm trying to get armv7l to boot.
<arianvp> On an Odroid XU4. it's a bit weird though because it uses a few blobs that need to be be on the SD-card at specific memory addresses, and U-boot as well
<Dezgeg> I think abbradar has it working on XU4
<arianvp> ah he's not here
<Dezgeg> IIRC he packaged the blobs in nixpkgs
<arianvp> yep seems like it
<arianvp> cool
<arianvp> but I don't know how to flash the bootloader :)
<Dezgeg> just dd I think
<arianvp> and do I then dd the nixos image to a specific offset?
<arianvp> or just flash the nixos image first, bootloader second?
<Dezgeg> oh, it installs a shell script which does it
<arianvp> oh cool
<arianvp> can I run this derivation on x86 is the question now
<Dezgeg> probably not
<arianvp> chicken egg problem :(
<andi-> qemu? ;-)
<Dezgeg> probably easiest to download the upstream scripts and adapt them
<arianvp> ahh... that nixos derivation flashes different blobs than I am flashing.. interesting
<arianvp> let me adapt my script

<flokli> sorry, was afk until just now
<flokli> for my armv7l, it was as simple as flashing the generic sdcard image, and then my custom u-boot on top of it
<flokli> the sdcard image is made to resize itself on first boot, to effectively become your 'real' system afterwards
<flokli> which is pretty neat

<arianvp> Woohooo it works!
<arianvp> compiling the world now
<arianvp> gchristensen: I'll bug bas for you
<arianvp> :P
<gchristensen> cool :)
<arianvp> are there no plans to have an official armv7l cache?
<arianvp> as that's also what Raspberry pi's ru netc
<arianvp> run, etc*
<gchristensen> pi3 is aarch64
<arianvp> ooh is it?
<arianvp> sweet
<gchristensen> IIRC?
<andi-> yes it is.. it can also run in 32bit armv7(6?) mode
<MoreTea> gchristensen: would RPI 3s be interesting as build hosts for ofborg?
<MoreTea> I'm afraid that they would not have enough memory to help out
<gchristensen> mmm hard to say, but perhaps not
<gchristensen> we're good on build capacity right now actually :)
<MoreTea> Ok, cool
<MoreTea> Hi arianvp
<arianvp> hey :)
<arianvp> kinda surprised the mainline kernel worked on this machine
<arianvp> as odroid has all kinds of weird patches
<arianvp> lets see if I can package those up
