<infinisil> worldofpeace: Earlier you asked about the random twitch stream script I made
<infinisil> Well I fixed it and pushed it to github in a somewhat presentable state: https://github.com/infinisil/random-twitch-stream
<infinisil> :)
<worldofpeace> fab !! ✨
<worldofpeace> cloning
<infinisil> :D
<infinisil> Hmm I might have messed up the token logic, testing..
<infinisil> Fixed :)
<infinisil> I've used this script a fair bunch already (while it was still working originally), and it's really fun imo
<infinisil> Have found a couple cool streamers with it
<infinisil> Hmmm, I feel like it's missing a whole bunch of streams
<drakonis> infinisil: twitch stream roulette?
<drakonis> this i gotta see
<infinisil> Oof yeah it looks like it only fetched like the first page of results
<infinisil> Goddamnit why do they change their API just like that
<infinisil> Just pushed a commit to fix that
<drakonis> its twitch
<drakonis> the answer is generally "because they can"
<infinisil> Now let's see if it can fetch *all* twitch streams, for any game and any language
<infinisil> (still going..)
<infinisil> Safe to say, there are a *lot* of twitch streams
<infinisil> And done!
<infinisil> "Finished fetching 123420 streams"
<infinisil> That's a lot indeed!

<cole-h> lovesegfault: Nope, fish.
<lovesegfault> cole-h: Ah, hm
<lovesegfault> I want a way to always start nix-shell with zsh
<evanjs> is it 100% compatible with zsh now?
<evanjs> last I checked there are some quirks if bash isn't used. might be mis-remembering, tho
<samueldr> anyone with a pixel 3 or better can tell me if (1) they can get dmesg output (without root) (2) dmesg | grep -i drm output?
<samueldr> the dmesg output might need to be from a freshly rebooted phone to be useful
<samueldr> "pixel 3 or better"... should rephrase: Any google pixel 3 or more recent... "better" is relative
<samueldr> (other recent phone output welcome, but it ideally should be suspected of using DRM to render Android)
<samueldr> come explanation: DRM as in Direct Rendering Manager, the good kind of DRM
<cole-h> lovesegfault: `nix shell` :P
<cole-h> lovesegfault: Maybe you're looking for https://github.com/chisui/zsh-nix-shell ?
<samueldr> about what I asked: might not be useful in the end, so don't bother :/

<worldofpeace> cole-h: I've become less fond of terms like "EOL" (end of life) because I've had at least one person with a history of suicidality mention their sensitivity to the term (even if it's in the software context). I could change my mind tho
<cole-h> I can understand that.
<MichaelRaskin> I guess the least emotionally loaded would be «update discontinuation»
nullheroes has quit [Quit: WeeChat 2.9]
<joepie91> MichaelRaskin: that doesn't seem like a good replacement to me. it's long to type, not easily unambiguously abbreviatable, and "discontinuation" is a difficult word for non-native speakers
<joepie91> "end of updates" would work a lot better for example, but that then has the problem that "there are no more updates" is not considered by a lot of people to be a reason to stop using it
<MichaelRaskin> As someone with a Slavic native language, I guess it is more printed-vs-spoken than native-vs-non-native distinction
<MichaelRaskin> To be fair, on a non-network-connected device it is actually not!
<joepie91> I'm kinda counting beyond-fluent speakers as native speakers here :P
<MichaelRaskin> «Unpatched vulnerabilities» is probably the most truthful description
<eyJhb> <Now Totally Insecure, and you will get hacked>
<eyJhb> NTIGH
<eyJhb> Or just, <Totally Insecure, Get Hacked> TIGH
<joepie91> MichaelRaskin: "but my distro patches them for me!!1!"
<eyJhb> Wait, that would not work.
<joepie91> it's kind of annoying how little people understand the process behind the discovery and fixing of security issues
<MichaelRaskin> joepie91: I was speaking of official distro state, actually
<joepie91> like, if you're not aware that a huge chunk of security research consists of third-party reports of some sort, it's not obvious that "distro backports patches" is not equivalent to "still a supported version"
<MichaelRaskin> Some people consider Sway secure software, what can you do
bridge[evilred] has joined #nixos-chat
<MichaelRaskin> eyJhb: Surely Unsecure & Gets Hacked
<eyJhb> Better, because it does not spell a human bodypart. SUGH
<MichaelRaskin> Insecure, even
<MichaelRaskin> Sign
<MichaelRaskin> Sigh
<joepie91> I like SUGH :P
<MichaelRaskin> Or just Unsecure & Gets Hacked
<MichaelRaskin> 19.03 is now UGH
<eyJhb> MichaelRaskin++
<{^_^}> MichaelRaskin's karma got increased to 43
<eyJhb> I will adopt that
<eyJhb> That is pure awesome, because it describes everyone who needs to work on it (forced)
<eyJhb> I need to work on Windows XP, it is UGH!
<MichaelRaskin> Somehow, W10 manages to be more ugh than WXP, even if less UGH
<__monty__> Unsupported? Has the explicit "Don't bother us about this," ring to it.
<joepie91> unsupported sounds optional
<eyJhb> MichaelRaskin: Sounds about right... I don't bother with it

<pie_> i found this quite amusing; https://medium.com/message/deathhacks-b767903b7c15 I work doing a lot of things nowadays, mostly in technology. One of my workplaces is moving to an Agile software development process where working software is prioritized over comprehensive documentation. It’s a lot more fun to build and refine complicated systems than to outline and explain to other people how they work, I get that. But if anyone but you,
<pie_> anyone you care about, is going to be using your systems ever, a certain amount of documentation can be a great gift to those who manage your afterlife life.
