"note: currently hard linking saves -1.44 MiB"
<infinisil>
Ah yes, very nice
<gchristensen>
I wonder if there are people in our community who would be interested in a bug bounty to fix some tickets?
<gchristensen>
or if that would be uninteresting
<etu>
infinisil: One floppy :)
<DigitalKiwi>
is that a double negative though
<pie_[bnc]>
infinisil: a whole floppy!
<pie_[bnc]>
oh etu already noticed u.u
<etu>
:D
<__monty__>
You guys are really dating yourselves ; p
<pie_[bnc]>
yeah i bet infinisil doesnt even know what a floppyis
<pie_[bnc]>
he's probably like an entire year younger than me!
<pie_[bnc]>
kids these days.
<__monty__>
I'm reading an old catalog and it talks about apple's "stiff disks," and I suspect you guys are talking about these rather than actual floppy disks.
<DigitalKiwi>
i have some of those 5.25" ones
<infinisil>
Didn't know about that being a floppy size!

"key algorithmic techniques such as recursion and condescension"
<pie_[bnc]>
:DDD
<pie_[bnc]>
ive seen this, luckily i forgot most of it so i can read it again
<ashkitten>
i love the recurrence of "This criticism happens in spite of the fact that C has not yet been invented."
<DigitalKiwi>
which contradicts that both church and turing invented every language
<pie_[bnc]>
yes
<pie_[bnc]>
DigitalKiwi: oh clever
<pie_[bnc]>
ok does this article get funnier every new time i read it?
<DigitalKiwi>
it does to me
<pie_[bnc]>
or is it just because i know even more about programming languages now
<DigitalKiwi>
i quoted it in #lua only a few days ago :D
<ashkitten>
haaa visual basic is a ML now
<pie_[bnc]>
actually crying and laying on my desk right now
<pie_[bnc]>
"1972 - Dennis Ritchie invents a powerful gun that shoots both forward and backward simultaneously. Not satisfied with the number of deaths and permanent maimings from that invention he invents C and Unix."
<pie_[bnc]>
the build up from the C mentions helps
<DigitalKiwi>
some of the comments were good too (had additional ones not in the list)
<ashkitten>
"all the memory safety of C combined with all the blazing speed of Smalltalk"
<cransom>
if anyone is feeling real bad about not getting on the datahand keyboards when they were a thing, someone stepped up if you want to diy one. https://github.com/JesusFreke/lalboard
<gchristensen>
I cannot believe it that is amazing
<cransom>
i was and still am impressed. it has some more customizability than the datahand did too. not necessarily more polished but, thats personal preferance.
<cransom>
and this guy also wrote his own wrapper for programmatic cad in fusion360. *bwoah*.
<gchristensen>
:O
<cransom>
(basically, a python driven openscad but the openscad is fusion360)
