<samueldr>
the Dye thing, with the options to the right is pretty useful
<gchristensen>
I sort of wish I could get emacs' default gui scheme but as xresources
<samueldr>
maybe you can?
<gchristensen>
I don't wish hard enough to do it :)

<infinisil>
I'm in dire need of some fresh air on my system, this is perfect
<infinisil>
Also motivates me to add a colorscheme option to NixOS/home-manager, such that I can change the colorscheme for everything with this one option
<uranther>
yeah, kinda old but still not as ancient as Make.
<gchristensen>
I'd be surprised if eelco has thought much about maak in 17 years
<uranther>
I wonder if it was abandoned for something better
<gchristensen>
yes

does anyone have good workarounds for https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/issues/34376 ? I've tried appending "-f-embed_data_files" to the pandoc build, and patching in an explicit Paths_pandoc_types module but I'm still getting giant closures

Still in the mind of our carnix/crate2nix conversation yesterday, it's a bummer that none of these use the actual cargo library, instead of calling an executable or parsing it in a custom way. The library should be more flexible and not depend on cargo being in the PATH

r13y idea -- se faketime to set the date to a noticably strange byte sequence you can grep for

jD91mZM2: sounds like a useful project!
<pie_>
trololo; things like ctypes.sh exist so... :P
<andi->
jD91mZM2: yeah, I looked at the cargo crate a few times.. It seems possible.. I had hopes for the build plan stuff but since that spits out absolute paths, merged environments,… it would not be as useful for generating a nix expression out of that :/

I wonder if you can make a Linux desktop unlock itself when your iphone is nearby and unlocked.
<elvishjerricco>
I dunno if bluetooth has any way for a device to prove its identity
<infinisil>
elvishjerricco: Doesn't the bluetooth pairing thing work like that?
<infinisil>
Something with trusting each other or so
<elvishjerricco>
infinisil: No idea. I know next to nothing about bluetooth :P
<pie_>
elvishjerricco, i dont see why you wouldnt be able to do it somehow
<elvishjerricco>
Like I dunno if that's actually secure or if it's just for show
<infinisil>
elvishjerricco: Yeah I think that's how it works: You connect to the device initially, then you can say you "trust" the device, in which case it can connect automatically in the future
<infinisil>
Probably (I don't know all that much either)
<elvishjerricco>
cool. Then I just need to figure out how to tell if the phone is unlocked
<pie_>
maybe you could have a confirmation dialog on the phone
<pie_>
or something

ldlework: does it work in proton?
<manveru>
ah, platinum...
<ldlework>
No clue, but it is definitely the best game I've played in a few years.
<manveru>
yeah, not a big fan of dark-souls-like :|
<manveru>
watched it a bit on twitch, didn't look very relaxing :)
<manveru>
plus i still have an orc army to lead against sauron
<ldlework>
manveru: Also, basically all the reviews of Sekiro are about how it is definitely a From Software game but absolutely distinct from Dark Souls. I personally disliked Dark Souls as it was far too hard. In Sekiro the combat is totally different. That said it is hard but for totally different reasons.
<ldlework>
(overlapping enemy sight cones making each area a mix of a stealth puzzle of what order to kill each enemy, etc)
<manveru>
shadow of war is better :)
<manveru>
but i finished shadow of mordor as well, it was a lot easier
<ldlework>
This video about Shadow of Mordor demonstrates exactly why Sekiro is good.
