<zhaofeng1> They had something called a Super Popcorn which has an Amlogic SoC but it seems to have fizzled
<zhaofeng1> Would be really nice if it was pin-by-pin compatible with the CHIP so it can be put in a PocketCHIP enclosure
<samueldr> I see, yeah
<zhaofeng1> For the "Pocket" I'm not too thrilled with the form factor
<zhaofeng1> I really like the portrait form factor of the PocketCHIP which makes it nice to hold. The keyboard was actually not bad when I tried my friend's
<hexa-> only the 3568 has triple-display support
<hexa-> and the 3566 only has PCI 2.1 x1
<hexa-> that means nvme will be limited to 500 MB/s
<samueldr> yeah, zhaofeng1, I totally get that :) but that's the only one I know of that is actually a thing
<hexa-> though the quartz64 docs say the model a has a pcie x4 slot
<hexa-> >> PCIe x4 open ended slot on model A, m.2 slot on model B, one Gen2 lane due to SoC constraints
<zhaofeng1> A55... Kinda underwhelming :(
<hexa-> zhaofeng1: what would you like to see on an sbc?
<zhaofeng1> Well, I'm expecting some A7x cores

<colemickens> the best kind of surprise, when something works unexpectedly (though hopefully not unexplainably)
<samueldr> yeah
<samueldr> I took the SD card from my raspberry pi 3B UEFI install
<samueldr> put it in the pi 4B, expected it to just work
<samueldr> because I made sure U-Boot would be setup properly
<samueldr> except that... I hadn't internalized the fact that the linux kernel could have made things awkward!
<colemickens> it should be possible though right, I think 3b supports a generic mainline kernel too?
<samueldr> it is
<samueldr> because of what you said
<samueldr> it just didn't dawn on me until way later in my testing
* colemickens raised hands emoji for mainline
<colemickens> all my homies love mainline
<samueldr> and in theory that image should be able to boot in any machine where the firmware is stored on a dedicated storage
