turns out my (messed-up) implemenation of a dummy file made a broken symlink, which in turn means it cannot kexec since the initrd is missing, which then means the existing demo rootfs still boots

Also, I found https://github.com/NixOS/mobile-nixos/issues/207 - any reason why the extra unset kernel option isn't committed to the config in the repo? From what I can tell it will never build without that line.
