<ashkitten>
what do i even do once i get the phone
<ashkitten>
lineage isnt gonna be available yet
<samueldr>
there's not much _to_ do, other than not running android
<ashkitten>
i guess disable the updater and exclusively use sailfish
<samueldr>
well, their android
<ashkitten>
at least it's not present in sailfish i'm guessing
<MichaelRaskin>
Is sailfish even already available?
<ashkitten>
MichaelRaskin: i hope so
<ashkitten>
idk
<ashkitten>
i don't have it yet
<ashkitten>
how's the state of wayland on nvidia gpus now?
<drakonis>
still... questionable really
<drakonis>
you cant get wayland unless someone implements nvidia's special secret sauce
<drakonis>
you can get it on gnome and kde but nowhere else
<drakonis>
because it would require the developers to spend time implementing nvidia's eglstreams
<drakonis>
by the way, what's the status on kde 5.17?
<colemickens>
Confession, libvirt removed some of the bridge management stuff and now I can't figure out how to give my VMs IPs from my router. :( I've tried so many times.
<colemickens>
I don't understand the IP part there. Why do I have to give it an IP rathr than the guest getting an IP from my routers DHCP server?
<ivan>
the guest will still be able to do that
<ivan>
when you create a bridge, you need the bridge to have an IP instead of the underlying network interface
<ivan>
also you need to change your VM NIC to use br0
<ivan>
on the host I guess you can also do networking.interfaces.<name?>.useDHCP instead of assigning addresses but I haven't tested it
<LLED2_>
is it possible to install full xfce4 desktop in nix in debian?
<ivan>
#nixos
<ivan>
probably not in any convenient manner
<elvishjerricco>
LLED2_: You could probably set it up with home-manager

<elvishjerricco> thank you I will read about it
<LLED2_>
is it recomended to do it like that? because no one in internet show how to do it
<LLED2_>
I mean is it preferable to use xfce that come with debian or to install it using nix? because I want to install everything in nix
<samueldr>
oof, my linux .git folder, which has refs to a bunch of misc. remotes is now 6.7GiB and it packed recently

<MichaelRaskin>
ashkitten: you only need to hope it is available by the time you actually get the device! Which is kind of more probable than already available
<ashkitten>
heh, right
<MichaelRaskin>
I hope by the time they get to Russian keyboards they will flash at least a version with fixed battery bugs
<MichaelRaskin>
i wonder if their pre-rooted Android will be any better; it is the easiest second-image to add, and it might be that the unessential upstream MTK stuff is easy to disable there.
<MichaelRaskin>
(or maybe, given how the shipments span multiple months, there will be a community LineageOS beta at least, could be a month easier than Sailfish)
<ashkitten>
MichaelRaskin: the other thing is, lineage has its own updater and way to install updates whereas without the backdoored updater i assume there's no way to install updates with the stock rom
<MichaelRaskin>
Redownloading the full-flash image once updates are relesed…
<ashkitten>
i guess so
<ashkitten>
wouldn't that wipe data?
<ashkitten>
and be overall huge?
<ashkitten>
ugh, something is making my eyes tear up big time and idk what it is
<MichaelRaskin>
Heavy: yes. Wipe data: with TWRP recovery it was optional… anyway with rooted LineageOS you can install oandbackup from F-Droid
<etu>
Todays AoC seems to be a lot harder to do in Nix :D
<MichaelRaskin>
Just model loops with recursion
<MichaelRaskin>
To do and not run out of recursion depth, that's indeed hard…
<etu>
yeah
<etu>
I'll give it a stab this evening
<MichaelRaskin>
I think Nix recursion depth limit is unchangeable, though
<etu>
If I split up the input in chunks and run it in several parts it's probably possible to reduce the recursion depth

Has the group (pwmt) behind zathura permanently removed their home page? I filed an issue re zathura for another distro, but the maintainer couldn't access the page the next day
<waleee-cl>
... (rather the page times out with a 504 error), and decided to postpone the fix till later

so i found out that there's a distro called nitrux and its domain is nxos.org
<samueldr>
oof...
<samueldr>
it's shock full of trademark issues for _other_ reasons
<elvishjerricco>
Basically just copied the kexec units and made the one change to append an initrd with the secret in it to the initrd.
<elvishjerricco>
Then `systemctl isolate my-kexec.target`
<elvishjerricco>
`/path/to/secretInitrd` needs to be an initrd stored on your encrypted file system, containing a key file pointed to by `boot.initrd.luks.devices.<foo>.keyFile`
<elvishjerricco>
And of course you'll need `boot.initrd.luks.devices.<foo>.fallbackToPassword = true` in order to cold boot.
