one (tenuous) reason I'm not keen on squash-and-merge in one-commit PRs is how it changes the hashes, thus the commit presented in the PR is not the one applied to the tree. This makes operations on that commit just a bit more involved

I doubt it'll help, but I'm _pretty_ sure that my hypothesis that increasing the timeout had no effect was false in most cases. :)

those are times as seen by the perl harness, so I'm pretty sure they can't like; while I agree that VM times in dmesg cannot be relied upon

one odd thing ive noticed with the nixos test system, it has 2 sleeps, one will sleep on the host, the other will sleep on the guest (after it boots and connects)
