Please read my NixOS RFC about improving review tools for Nixpkgs maintainers who don't have direct commit access: https://github.com/NixOS/rfcs/pull/39
<clever>
globin: hmmm, wasnt there a recent change, to be able to pass structured data into a derivation?
eadwu has joined #nixos-dev
<globin>
clever: that is mentioned in the discussion an the related nixpkgs PR, that is probably out of scope but anyway gets to be an implementation detail in stdenv anyway
<globin>
but changing stdenv to use that is a larger effort
<clever>
2 things come to mind
<clever>
a: have nix-level setup-hooks, so a cmake.drv-pre-process function can mutate a set into a string
<LnL>
I think it was bash arrays specifically, structured attrs has been in nix a bit longer
<clever>
b: make it a structured attr, and let the bash level setup-hook do the rest
<globin>
clever: if you have comments please comment on the RFC, I'm only trying to get the new process to run :)
<clever>
b would maybe break things, because i dont think its per-attr? and turning it on globally would affect other things
<globin>
and to get the old RFCs unstuck
<globin>
clever: would you be interested in shepherding this RFC?
<clever>
been a bit busy lately
