"One might well wonder just how things worked before, since a truncated version of that shebang line is still wrong. It turns out that the Perl interpreter is able to detect this truncation; it rereads the first line itself and sets its arguments properly." magic behavior everywhere
<domenkozar>
anyone has something for the weekly? :)
<gchristensen>
domenkozar: maybe a character around Aenea
<gchristensen>
but Aenea is already my locally installed trojan so we'll need a different one
<gchristensen>
and I verified it came up with enough build users

"It gets better. If you give perl a script whose shebang line does not actually specify perl – e.g. if you accidentally run perl ~/myscript.py and that file specifies /usr/bin/python as interpreter – perl will helpfully run the script via /usr/bin/python for you."

srhb: regarding the k8s refactor, do you think we can merge that soon or do you have remaing issues with it?
<fpletz>
gchristensen: sorry, do you still want to talk about networkd? :)
<gchristensen>
betawaffle wants to :)
<srhb>
fpletz: In my opinion, we should merge it soon, and it's in good shape from what I've gathered from all the people I've talked to who actually tested it on real clusters rather than just my laptop
<fpletz>
same here :)
<srhb>
fpletz: Frankly, I was hoping some maintainer that is actively using it (you?! :D) would step in now that I'm not running k8s in production anymore, I feel slightly out of the loop and scared of making a mistake, but I'm pretty confident.
<fpletz>
we're currently in the process of stepping in because we need it, yeah :)
<srhb>
I figured, and that's awesome!
<fpletz>
but we just started a few weeks ago to look at the current state and to get accustomed to k8s itself :)
<srhb>
fwiw johanot is great and I'm sort of steering him towards taking an active role in maintainership of it as well.
<srhb>
And he's been using it in production for a long while
<fpletz>
sounds great!
<srhb>
So mostly I'm looking for a second opinion, and it sounds like you're well equipped to do that!
<tilpner>
simpson: Sorry, I can't look into any of that for next two days
<simpson>
tilpner: No worries. Mostly just thinking that this might be something good to include.
<fpletz>
gchristensen: on irc? is there a channel? :)
