I'm wondering if I've not messed up some of my cross compilation config as I"m now seeing `OSError: [Errno 8] Exec format error` building mobile-nixos?

nah, there were some huge regressions in a fix that made things more correct

np, tbh I'm "burnt out" on that sort of boot-loader-y work (which makes me appreciate your dedication and efforts more)

wrangling the mess is hard

it's a lot of state to recall up, and hard to multitask during to make sure you're testing the exact combo when things aren't working, etc.

I swear I'd looked at this and it seemed like it was more than "just remove the conditionals and stick the [versioned] headers" but maybe it really would be that easy.

well, there's the u-boot binary

and maybe something in how the nixos module is configured, which I'm not familiar

the u-boot binary should be controllable based on the version-specific config.txt section pointing at the right one

but yeah, the nixos module would want to be expanded probably at least to include multi-version config support versus now just being configured for a specific version.
