<sphalerite>
hrm, the chromium build on the nanopi failed because of OOM
<sphalerite>
ah, but if the number of targets built is a reasonable approximation of build progress, then the whole thing may well have taken under 24hr which isn't too bad
<Ke>
can't you get chromium from cache?
<sphalerite>
I can, but I wanted to see how long it takes to build :)

thefloweringash: i've rebuilt go with overlayfs on /nix/store and everything was fine. maybe that was a squashfs issue?
<sphalerite>
it's probably something stupid, since this is a kernel specifically for the device and the older lineageos one worked
<sphalerite>
ugh I hate removing glued-in batteries
<sphalerite>
it's scary
<ar>
i miss easily removable batteries in phones
<sphalerite>
yeees
<sphalerite>
the pinephone is supposed to have one but they screwed it up a bit, so it's not easy even though it's supposed to be x)

hm, I can't connect to the UART and USB at the same time because the ribbon cable hiding the pads is also the ribbon cable connecting the USB port to the main board :/

aaah I was just silly and missed the kernel build option needed for it to boot

(I just completely removed the slow path warning code from the kernel…)

sphalerite: I don't know of anything screwey with the pinephone battery
<samueldr>
sphalerite: though I believe hat if you use a replacement compatible battery (actually for another phone) *that* replacement has to be lightly modified to fit
<samueldr>
sphalerite: which option was it that was needed for it to boot?
<samueldr>
(oh, and nice finding a serial pad!)
<samueldr>
and yeah, can't wait for your european authorities to pull their heads out of their asses (much less farther in than USA authorities) about that and force repairability *and* accessibility to repair components
<samueldr>
because what good is it to have a rights to repair if every model of phone uses a slightly incompatible battery, and that the OEM doesn't produce replacement parts

stupid pixel 3 is here, no idea where the stupid usb c boards ended up. USPS swears they delivered them to an address that doesn't exist -_-

stupid pixel 3 being the locked verizon one?

<colemickens>
no! your advice saved me, the seller canceled and refunded. I am about to have an unlocked v9 bootloader-running pixel 3 again :)
<colemickens>
turns out there are plenty of bad batches of pixels, even non-vzw ones
<samueldr>
bad batches?
<colemickens>
idk, maybe it's common but there seem to be tons of this device available with bad screens, either severe burn in and/or a strong red tint
<samueldr>
I don't know of anything to be wary of other than north-american-telco braindedness/brandedness
<samueldr>
oh, that kind of bad batches
<samueldr>
I thought you meant sleeper issues like being unable to unlock them :)
<samueldr>
yeah, I bought some of my dev phones by looking carefully and going for "broken" or "damaged"

except that one oneplus3 I got (but sent back and got refunded) where they sent a different one than on the listing
