<samueldr> get the 8GB variant out asap
<samueldr> at that point, a netbooted in-ram system could easily use 4GB for its rootfs, while still being mostly compatible with 4GB stuff
<samueldr> oh... they do ship a 32 bit os...
<gchristensen> ffs
<gchristensen> let's just take off the 4g one and add an 8g chip
<samueldr> (LPAE should make this a non-issue though for 32 bit, so that's not a good answer)
<samueldr> though, do remember that everyone and their dogs are using DDR4 everywhere... I guess it's hard to come by the 8GB chips
<gchristensen> I'm not sure what that means :x
<samueldr> the new raspberry pi are using DDR4 chips, since next to everything uses DDR4 these days it might be harder to get 8GB chips for the price point they want
<gchristensen> ah I see
<samueldr> your phone(s) your tablet(s) are possibly using DDR4
<samueldr> (saying that like it's normal to have multiple phones lying around on the desk)
<gchristensen> hehe
<gchristensen> I do have my EU phone and my US phone...
<samueldr> 16G smells like 2GiB (16 Gigabits)
<samueldr> Memory Size 16Gb (512M x 32)
<samueldr> confirmed as Gb later on yeah
<gchristensen> so is this not the right thing?
<samueldr> at least for size
<samueldr> AFAIK all RAM chips are always advertized in bits, not in bytes
<samueldr> (it could also be the wrong package/footprint, or wrong type depending on LP or not LP DDR4)
<gchristensen> yeah
<gchristensen> for sure
