<craige>
or is that just purely for replacing Android?
<sphalerite>
craige: it probably won't be necessary for the librem 5, but I'm not familiar with the boot process.
<flokli>
gchristensen: why did you have to comment out the fileSystems."/nix/store" overlay configuration?
<sphalerite>
craige: it's definitely something I'm _very_ interested in, and I've got a librem 5 preordered and will try to get nixos running on it once I have it :))
<flokli>
(for the aarch64-build-box config)
<craige>
SAme sphalerite - I'm regretting not stumping up for the devkit.
<sphalerite>
craige: apparently it's u-boot? In that case it should be pretty easy to get nixos running on it
<craige>
I'm planning on spending some time getting NixOS running nicely on it before I cut it over as my primarly phone.
<sphalerite>
(I'm guessing puri.sm is the kind of company that will insist on an upstream kernel and u-boot)
<craige>
Yes, so far they've been uptreaming everything.
<craige>
(to 4.18 kernel in particular).
<sphalerite>
oh yeah definitely, it will also need some packaging work to get a small-screen-touch-suitable UI
<craige>
So i'm expecting to have to track and apply their patches to a specifically built NixOS kernel.
<sphalerite>
aww, why 4.18 and not mainline? :(
<craige>
There was a reason, it escapes me now.
<sphalerite>
well I'm guessing it won't be too complex to forward-port and someone will do it
<sphalerite>
it's definitely fair enough to stick with 4.18 for the production devices
<sphalerite>
à la stable distirbution
<craige>
(Perhaps PureOS, a Debian derivitive is still tied to 4.18.
<sphalerite>
in any case 4.18 is a fairly recent kernel and I'm sure newer stuff will run on it as well
<sphalerite>
hell, nixos 19.03 is only on 4.19 by default
<sphalerite>
so it's really fine
<craige>
It looks like Plasma-mobile is being supported too, which ought to be a reasonble fit for NixOS, perhaps eschewing the need to package their custom shell, Phosh.
