<thefloweringash> Took me a minute to figure out why my serial adapter silently failed to talk to my rock64 at 1.5M: https://github.com/torvalds/linux/blob/2409207a73cc8e4aff75ceccf6fe5c3ce4d391bc/drivers/usb/serial/cp210x.c#L1818
<thefloweringash> I'm not 100% sure, but I think #61162 prevents my rock64 from finding its usb root drive.
<{^_^}> https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/pull/61162 (by lheckemann, 2 weeks ago, merged): Kernel config: use PREEMPT_VOLUNTARY
<thefloweringash> (well, the backport to 19.03)

<genesis> nativeBuildInputs = [ librsvg pcre ]

<genesis> big beast.
<andi-> Yeah, a bit out of the comfort zone for a (private) workstation... Power9 always sounded interesting
<samueldr> the entry-level one at 2397.99 is making me sweat
* genesis build on a old lenovo x201 :')
<gchristensen> iirc there is an alternative to screen which does a nicer job for being at the console of a SBC
<gchristensen> any favorites?
<andi-> cu
<andi-> (not the one in nixpkgs)
<samueldr> I use picocom
<andi-> The OpenBSD version is nice but requires abit of porting to work on linux: https://github.com/andir/nix-packages/tree/master/cu
<samueldr> in nixpkgs
<samueldr> I was confused and though you wanted to run screen *on* the sbc and was wondering what screen was doing wrong
<gchristensen> ahh
<samueldr> c-a x to exist picocom
<samueldr> to exit*
<gchristensen> it is pretty cool having tons of packages ready to go on aarch64
<gchristensen> (like nix-shell -p emacs25-nox python3 python3Packages.pyaudio)
<genesis> i wonder if someone has tried to support wince
<andi-> as in Windows CE?
<genesis> yes, just need 32bits compat to run the crosstool
<genesis> they still use such device on http://navit-project.org/ , since chinese sells really cheap hw with that
<andi-> no idea
<genesis> i sucess to do a windows version today
<genesis> to show them nix really fix the problem with their awful scripts, old docker and boilerplate.
