<alex_giusi_tiri>
oh, i see; thanks for pointing it out
<alex_giusi_tiri>
i'lk go tinker with it some more...
<samueldr>
be cautious: tinkering is how I got here
<samueldr>
;)
<alex_giusi_tiri>
i promise i'll be careful
<gchristensen>
too late

<alex_giusi_tiri>
hey, here i am again. i am trying to boot up a qemu-system-aarch64 instance, but the screen is always blank, theres is no output, even with '-boot menu=on'. `qemu-system-x86_64` works...
<alex_giusi_tiri>
i tried with simple command options, with a different guest machine type...
<alex_giusi_tiri>
the host type is x86_64
<alex_giusi_tiri>
and nixos
<samueldr>
I'm assuming that was using the sd_image?
<samueldr>
if so, I don't know how to make it work under qemu (or was it the armv7l image? both?)
<alex_giusi_tiri>
i am actually trying the physical sd card
<samueldr>
so "kinda"
<samueldr>
something might be off for u-boot, I don't really know :/
<samueldr>
did you look at the serial output?
<samueldr>
in the "View" menu, serial0
<alex_giusi_tiri>
i notice there is 'bcm2835-fb' but no 'virtual screen'
<samueldr>
qemu *very* recently released qemu 3.1, with I think updates about that
<alex_giusi_tiri>
no output in serial0...
<samueldr>
(throwing stuff around, and about to go off)
<samueldr>
just spent a chunk of the evening ensuring I could boot u-boot on a device which does not yet run nixos, and now I can
<alex_giusi_tiri>
that's awesome1 good for you!
<alex_giusi_tiri>
...i think i just have to tweak the options to actually get the virtual screen to appear
