hrmm, I can't use git as a system package, because /usr/bin precedes /run/current-system/sw/bin in the path.. Is this right?
<__monty__>
I've been running into this as well. Nothing prevents you from changing your PATH though, I guess.
<eraserhd>
yeah, I could do it in my profile, but I was tyring to figure out if there's a better fix.
<LnL>
my path starts with nix stuff
<__monty__>
Hmm, kde4 is on my PATH. Weird, on a mac.
<LnL>
darwin-option environment.systemPath
<LnL>
^ that's what is configured by nix-darwin, anything else is other stuff
<eraserhd>
I have one systemPath option. Mine is coming from `/usr/libexec/path_helper -s`, which is the first thing a login shell seems to run.
<LnL>
the path_helper uses /etc/paths.d IIRC
<eraserhd>
Yeah, but there's only two paths in there, one for XQuartz and one from TeX. Nothing specifies /usr/bin.
<eraserhd>
Let me try to install bashInteractive as a system package. I have it installed from nix-env right now.
<__monty__>
eraserhd: You don't get a warning about not replacing /etc/bashrc when running darwin-rebuild switch, right?
<__monty__>
Maybe it's set there?
<eraserhd>
It's definitely set in /etc/profile, which is before /etc/bashrc.
<eraserhd>
LnL: What does your `/usr/libexec/path_helper -s` return?
<LnL>
well in an existing shell it prefixes the nix paths with /usr stuff
<eraserhd>
Yeah, so I see that the path is supposed to be overridden somewhere, but I can't figure out. I'm sourcing nix.sh from my profile, but that seems different from nix-darwin.
<eraserhd>
I'll have to debug later, as I gotta go.
