<teehemkay> LnL: nope, the instructions worked perfectly for me.
<LnL> great, the catalina update will probably be another story tho
<teehemkay> true that.
<teehemkay> Thank you for the tip re: `nix-instantiate`! I tried `darwin-option environment.systemPackages` but it says "no value"
<teehemkay> Looking at `darwin-option` code, it seems to be doing something quite similar to the above incantation, so I'm quite intrigued why it doesn't work for `systemPackages`?
<teehemkay> Other options such as shells, variables, etc do work though.
<LnL> yeah it probably doesn't know how to print packages
<teehemkay> I see, thanks!

<blackswan> hm. i'm trying to find a darwin irc channel. i don't even know what nix is yet. i'm about to find out.
<blackswan> well, nix seems like something i would like if i had more free time.
<blackswan> i'm trying to find somebody who can answer a question about dtruss on darwin, though, because it might be faster than delving through source code and documentation.

<blackswan> the problem i am having is that i am trying to find out what arguments git is getting invoked with by the ansible git module by using dtruss to see what the arguments are to exec() but i never see anything in the dtruss output that looks like an exec()
<blackswan> even if i run sudo dtruss -a -f > /tmp/out 2>&1 sudo -u hermit bash -c /bin/pwd i just see it trying to stat /bin/pwd, never trying to exec() it.
<blackswan> is there anybody around who might know why, or might know where on irc i might find somebody who might know why and be willing to tell me?
<LnL> you can't trace signed binaries, unless this is a non-standard bash you should get "dtrace cannot control executables signed with restricted entitlements"
