<abathur>
a while back I noticed that I have a duplicate path entry for $HOME/.nix-profile/bin; trying to sort it out today
<abathur>
I havent's seen (or had luck finding) anyone else mentioning it, so I've always assumed I was just doing something in the wrong order or twice, but after picking through the nix and nix-darwin installs it seems like most people should be seeing it
<abathur>
the nix-darwin installer wants to set up sourcing of /etc/static/bashrc very early in the bash init process, and from there it sources the *-set-environment script, which hard-sets the path (with $HOME/.nix-profile/bin as the first component). Nix, for its part, wants us to source $HOME/.nix-profile/etc/profile.d/nix.sh much later in the bash init (from .bash_profile/.bash_login/.profile), at which point
<abathur>
it also prepends $HOME/.nix-profile/bin to the path.
<abathur>
well, I guess the asterisk may be single/multi-user, not sure how it would differ under a multi-user install
<abathur>
heading out; can't recall if nix-darwin is on the chat log but if so I'll check back there for answers
