<gchristensen>
the "GitHub API Failures" bit is ... interesting

sounds like someone's getting geocoded to iran/cuba/etc.
<infinisil>
After thinking and developing this module dependency idea some more, I think this would work really well!

It would integrate with Flakes really well too I think

some people were removed from the github maintainer group because they don't have githubId set, btw
<gchristensen>
the mismatches and missing data ones are interesting, and many are tricky to solve
<gchristensen>
you can't just go look up github handles and assume it is right, instead you have to see if the maintainer data was added by them -- because a *shocking* number of github users rename their accounts
<gchristensen>
(I added a note in the (i) tooltip about how to handle those)
<gchristensen>
anyone around to give me some feedback on something?

<drakonis>
there's a clear miscommunication problem regarding nix and nixos, people seem to think that nix uses haskell
<drakonis>
rather than nixlang
<samueldr>
what do you suggest can help?
andi- has joined #nixos-dev
<drakonis>
i think it is the strong association of haskell with functional languages that causes this
<drakonis>
would be best to clarify the language used
<drakonis>
because it is vaguely called the nix language and it isnt brought up a whole lot
<drakonis>
on the website that is
<simpson>
What's the problem? Haskellers have had silly memes for a long time, and reasoned arguments have failed to improve the situation.
<drakonis>
well, its that people think they need to learn haskell to use nix
<drakonis>
and that precludes usage of nix itself
<drakonis>
prevents
<drakonis>
s/precludes/prevents
<drakonis>
as folks may get hung up on that and never get onto using nix
<samueldr>
do we know how they come to the conclusion?
<simpson>
Sure, but *why* do people think that? Is it something that we're saying, or is it something that Haskellers are saying amongst themselves?
<samueldr>
I've seen the (weak) association you describe, but it looks like it's more from haskellers using nix telling others to use nix, than people researching nix outright
<samueldr>
simpson: looks like we're mostly on the same angle lol
<drakonis>
i didnt ask the details on this
<drakonis>
but it might be worth investigating that later
<drakonis>
doesnt look like a haskeller though

samueldr: Yeah. If I sound bitter or backhanded, it's because I've had to put up with a lot of stupid Haskell memes. The community is easily bent to some bizarre bigotry.
<samueldr>
I have had no interaction with the haskell community, so I can't understand :)
<drakonis>
never heard of these

some issues seems so dated, i wonder we could ping his author by a bot, ask him if it is still relevant (yes|no) and close the issue if no answer in a timeout
