<flokli> arianvp: gchristensen: nah, for ipv6, it's a /56 per project, and you can pick as many /64 as you want from that and route it to a specific server. no need for bgp at that stage
<gchristensen> oh neat

<Mic92> sphalerite: any news regarding RFC#43 (RFC Steering Committee Rotation) ?
<Mic92> fpletz: a friendly remember to set up a meeting for `RFC 40 - "Ret-cont" recursive Nix` :)
<Mic92> *reminder
<sphalerite> Mic92: not really, I was hoping for feedback regarding whether I should lead the shepherds :p
<Mic92> zimbatm & infinisil if you accept your nomination for https://github.com/NixOS/rfcs/pull/45 (simple RFC), then we can open it for discussion.
<{^_^}> rfcs#45 (by 7c6f434c, 2 weeks ago, open): [RFC 0045] Deprecating unquoted URL syntax
<sphalerite> Mic92: ah ok. News: I now know I'm shepherd leader and will be in touch with the other shepherds soon to arrange a first meeting ;)
<gchristensen> Eelco has been working on Flakes at Tweag for Target. we initially started development in tweag/nix, but we're now moving it to NixOS/nix. Eelco pushed the "flakes" branch (where the development is happening -- not on master), now I'm going to move the issues over. The best way to move issues is to use GitHub's "transfer issue" mechanism instead of copy-pasting issues and replies and then CC'ing everybody
<gchristensen> involved. However, to do this, the Tweag/nix repo has to be in the same organization as NixOS/nix. Thus, we are going to rename tweag/nix to tweag/tmp-nix, transfer tweag/tmp-nix to NixOS/tmp-nix, then transfer the issues, then delete NixOS/tmp-nix. this might look funny or weird, so just wanted to give a heads up ahead of time

<gchristensen> also, yes: an RFC is on its way -- it is very early, nothing is permanent, and he/we definitely want to get an RFC in to get some more people thinking about it
adisbladis has joined #nixos-dev
<samueldr> gchristensen: might want to shut the github bridge down temporarily
<gchristensen> good thought
tilpner has quit [Quit: WeeChat 2.4]
<gchristensen> I think I'll start the transfer and see how it goes on the first issue, and if it looks like it'll be spammy, I'll shut it down
<gchristensen> sound ok?
<samueldr> at this point my work is done :)

<etu> gchristensen: Exciting with flakes! :)
<drakonis> v. exciting
<Taneb> What's the one IRC message summary of Flakes? Is it part of what Eelco was discussing at NixCon?

<manveru> anw, first time i'm seeing this too, looks awesome
<ekleog> ^
<ekleog> I'm kind of surprised of the complete change from the previous draft, but it's for the best, so… :)
<infinisil> Mic92: (Left a comment that I accept the nomination)
<Taneb> manveru: thanks
<Taneb> Looks pretty interesting
<aminechikhaoui> niksnut would be nice to have mercurial support in flakes as well for those of us using that :-)
JosW has joined #nixos-dev
<ekleog> would be nice to have pluggable flake support :° (it would also avoid hardcoding github in the nix binary)
<aminechikhaoui> yeah, isn't that possible with the nix plugins already ?
<dtz> \o/ flakes dev news and seeing bits of it
<drakonis_> its going to be a release blocker right?

<drakonis> because nixpkgs has to be transitioned to using flakes right?
<drakonis> and that means changing existing packages to use the new model
<drakonis> unless the old model stays
<gchristensen> I don't expect Nixpkgs to transition to flakes any time soon

<thoughtpolice> Holy shit, reading the Flake RFC pointed me to `dwarffs` and I'm not exaggerating when I say I was wanting this like, two weeks ago: https://github.com/edolstra/dwarffs
<thoughtpolice> Need to patch the BPF tools/perf to support this tbh

<worldofpeace> ,locate bin dot
<{^_^}> Found in packages: graphviz, graphviz-nox, graphviz_2_32
<makefu> ,locate notification-message-email.png
<{^_^}> Found in packages: iconpack-obsidian, mate.mate-icon-theme-faenza
<makefu> how can i find out which icons are currently available on my current system?
sir_guy_carleton has joined #nixos-dev
<infinisil> makefu: Probably /run/current-system/sw/share/icons
<makefu> i thought so as well but it does not contain the "default" icons
<makefu> seems i needed environment.systemPackages = [ pkgs.gnome3.defaultIconTheme ]; to get them into the current-system/sw space
