<edef> whoa how have i not been informed
<gchristensen> welcome!
<kai_w> how are .dtb and .dtbo files managed on nixos for a raspberry pi? my 1wire peripheral doesn't seem to be working after adding "dtoverlay=w1-gpio" to /boot/config.txt
<kai_w> presumably because /boot/overlays doesn't exist
<kai_w> also hi everyone, I might be here a lot :P
sb0 has joined #nixos-aarch64
<sb0> what is the channel URL for aarch64 packages? I tried nix-channel --add https://nixos.org/channels/nixpkgs-18.09-aarch64, and nix-channel --add https://nixos.org/channels/nixos-18.09-aarch64, but it won't work
<sb0> (binaries I mean)
<samueldr> there is no channel tracking specifically aarch64 builds for 18.09
<sb0> okay, so how do I use binary caches instead of rebuilding binutils, gcc etc.
<samueldr> so it's possible that the 18.09 channel advances while aarch64 builds are still going
<samueldr> though it's also possible that the builds failed, depending
<samueldr> not sure what's the _best_ way, but _a_ way I have used is, instead of using channels, is to checkout a git commit to the latest finished evaluation of this jobset https://hydra.nixos.org/jobset/nixos/release-18.09-aarch64#tabs-links
<samueldr> (not the best UX)
<samueldr> this is improved in 19.03, the channel will advance when aarch64 is finished too
<samueldr> (once 19.03 is released this will be better)
<gchristensen> what will change in 19.03?
<samueldr> I think so?
<samueldr> we added limitedSupport for aarch64 and aarch64 is in the main jobset?
<gchristensen> ahh
<samueldr> (unless limitedsupport won't make the jobset wait for it to finish?)
<samueldr> we don't have an aarch64 jobset for 19.03, and look: sd_image-aarch64 :) https://hydra.nixos.org/job/nixos/release-19.03/nixos.sd_image.aarch64-linux
<samueldr> I could be overlooking something
<gchristensen> nice
<clever> kai_w: ive found that the rpi has trouble with 1wire, it cant push as many amps/volts as an AVR, so it has trouble with long cables
