<mitchty> i've been running high sierra with 0 issues tbh, everyone says its "the worst osx release ever" but in my experience its nothing like 10.2 or 10.3 which I think were good candidates for that
<mitchty> i did case sensitive apfs as wel

<contrapumpkin> once APFS becomes widespread enough I think we should put the nix store onto a separate case-sensitive APFS partition
<contrapumpkin> but it'll just be confusing for now
<contrapumpkin> mitchty: also, apparently 10.13.4 is going to break us again unless they fix it before release
<LnL> yeah, I ran into some case sensitivity issues recently
<gchristensen> uh oh, what has happened?
<LnL> there are also 2 issues about people having problems with the rsync step of the installer, but I can't figure out why
<LnL> thought they had the brew rsync in their path or something, but that's not the case
<contrapumpkin> I've pinged someone I know at Apple about it
<mitchty> contrapumpkin: yey, well time to add myself to that issue to watch :)
* gchristensen cries
<gchristensen> can I go back in time and unwrite the multi-user installer
<gchristensen> (not that this would fix this problem...)

<ldlework> Its been a while since I touched my Nix config and I've kinda forgotten how to do things. Can someone remind me how I would add aspell with an english dictionary to my home.packages?
<ldlework> I think maybe I just have the package name wrong or something.
<ldlework> oh I got it
<ldlework> man I wish I had nixpkgs completion in emacs
<ldlework> that would be nuts
<gchristensen> (~˘▾˘)~
<mitchty> ldlework: could try this stuff https://github.com/travisbhartwell/nix-emacs it might work? not sure its what you were looking for or not
<ldlework> cool
<LnL> hopefully I'll finish my state stuff sometime so I can fix rollback for those known* options
<gchristensen> this is awesome!
<LnL> btw, not sure if it's different on nixos but there might be a few missing things in the service example
<stqism> I get a weird error installing or updating with nix, error: cannot kill processes for uid ‘30001’: failed due to signal 9 (Killed: 9)
<stqism> oh that's exciting
hamishmack has quit [Quit: hamishmack]
<LnL> you could do the whole switch to single user dance until it's fixed
<stqism> that sounds like it would be sooooo much of a hassle
<LnL> it’s not that bad
<LnL> just have to fiddle with the daemon service
