<Ke> it does do blockchain
<LinuxHackerman> I'm pretty happy with my honeycomb as my NAS/application host/ARM build server, and that has the advantage of being a single node unlike the cluster above though

<Ke> maybe next LTS will run unpatched
<zhaofeng> LinuxHackerman: Looks cool, but the markup is huge
<zhaofeng> I can buy 11 RK3399 SBCs plus a whitebox 1U enclosure for way less
<LinuxHackerman> Plus a switch, a BMC and a power supply for the whole thing?

<LinuxHackerman> ok yeah probably actually :D you'd probably be hard-pressed to get it all into a generic case like that
<zhaofeng> Well, the pre-built setup is nice for sure. Last time there was an eBay seller selling some defunct startup's custom cluster boxes
<LinuxHackerman> though actually… $880 for 11×rockpro64, ~$80 for a 450W PSU, $50 for a switch, plus cooling of some description, plus labour for assembly, and you're not going to fit it in 1U
<zhaofeng> Those were 1U chassis's full of NUCs and NVIDIA Jetsons
<LinuxHackerman> ooh fancy
<LinuxHackerman> though I was a bit disappointed when I tried a jetson out a while back, it's all GPU and no CPU
<zhaofeng> https://forums.servethehome.com/index.php?threads/10-intel-nucs-5-nvidia-jetson-tk1s-mini-pc-1u-single-board-computer-array.28178/
<zhaofeng> 10x Intel NUC N3700, 5x Jetson TK1, no RAM, no storage
<Ke> doesn't pine64 sell rk3399 modules?
<LinuxHackerman> nope
<zhaofeng> They have a cluster board for A64 modules, not sure about rk3399
<zhaofeng> A64 is just too slow to do any compute on
<Ke> yup can't find any either
<zhaofeng> Would be nice if Pine could make a PineTab Pro with RK3399
<zhaofeng> I'm happy with my PineTab, but I'm basically using it as a SSH client
<Ke> at least you can get chromebook tablet
<zhaofeng> Well yeah, that's also an option :)

<CRTified[m]> Hi, anyone here who is running NixOS on a RockPi4? I'd assume that it should be similar to the PINE64 ROCKPro64 (same SoC), but just want to check whether there are any pitfalls. I've also found this note from angerman https://gist.github.com/angerman/70c69c71bd91de3b9ea1ac1f438a8c62 🙂 Hardware will be delivered tomorrow, I just want to be prepared
