<thefloweringash> I now know the answer to my own question: yes, pkgsCross.sheevaplug can build a nixos that boots a sheevaplug
<simpson> Nice!
<thefloweringash> relevant changes: #76598
<{^_^}> https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/pull/76598 (by thefloweringash, 21 seconds ago, open): Cross-compiled sheevaplug support

<thefloweringash> the sheevaplug platform's kernel options are super strange https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/blob/a9e86bbd83319a1571a834d0c6a7a4e63094a31d/lib/systems/platforms.nix#L76-L174
<thefloweringash> but if I enable kernelAutoModules my boot just hangs before the kernel prints anything
<thefloweringash> here's the churn it creates: https://gist.github.com/thefloweringash/5ae947f940f8ae54797e062503a8c6ee in case anyone has insight on what options might be breaking things
<samueldr> could it be as simple as size?
<thefloweringash> Strangely it gets smaller. Working kernels are about 5mb, new ones are about 2.5mb.
<samueldr> ah, something that's =y in the original but =m in the modular?
<samueldr> compression?
<thefloweringash> Yeah. The original puts in some interesting choices like network filesystems.
