<samueldr> yeah, that's why a there's a big chunk of time budgeted for figuring this out and documenting it
<samueldr> and also why I'm working on a palette of devices rather than on only one
<samueldr> I got preliminary success on the pixel 2
<craige> It must be why Purism are working so hard on the Calls app.
<samueldr> will cleanup soon :3
<samueldr> unrelated I think
<samueldr> though no proof
<samueldr> purism's can work any way they want
<samueldr> while android devices generally will work a particular way
<samueldr> and then there's the pinephone that will work another way
<samueldr> though I think they can all be abstracted with ofono
<samueldr> and will be
<craige> \o/ all the fun.
<samueldr> I knew full well that this is one of the biggest challenge in term of scope
<samueldr> I'm about finished with an (unplanned) rush of porting work :)
<samueldr> unplanned since I thought I would have had more work to do to achieve what was achieved lately, this is amazing :)
<craige> \o/ :-D

<craige> For myself, I think the path has become clearer, replace my dying Oppo Find7 with another Android phone (Pixel 3?) for production, for now and pick up some other handsets, like the PinePhone, Librem 5 (paid for a 18 months ago) and some other old
<craige> Android devices as dev units to help get things going on them.
<craige> I had hoped it would be my last Android but it's power button death has caught me out. :-D

<adisbladis> samueldr: https://github.com/samueldr/mobile-nixos/pull/29 just worked :O
<{^_^}> samueldr/mobile-nixos#29 (by adisbladis, 2 hours ago, open): pulseaudio-modules-droid: init at 12.2.79
* adisbladis is surprised
<samueldr> how do you end up using this?
<adisbladis> samueldr: I'm using it on a Gemini PDA
<samueldr> the gemini PDA is running on Android or their Debian distro?
<adisbladis> Debian
<samueldr> I see :)
<adisbladis> My plan is to gradually replace the userspace bits until nixos is feasible
<samueldr> I'm now curious if your contribution enables audio on my qualcomm-based android devices
<adisbladis> samueldr: https://i.imgur.com/MJhEFtp.jpg :)
<adisbladis> samueldr: Should do
<adisbladis> samueldr: That entire KDE desktop is from nix
<samueldr> I was thinking more about "is there something else I'm missing?" :)
<adisbladis> samueldr: Provided your vendor files are in the right place things should just work (tm)
<samueldr> in your case you might have some firmwarey files that debian knows to load
<samueldr> right :)
<samueldr> then yeah, among the work coming soon I figure :D
<samueldr> :| I hadan't fully internalized that I had packaged libhybris for adbd
<samueldr> hadn't*
<samueldr> now I better understand why you were interested in adding it in that repo
<adisbladis> Next up: hwcomposer stuffs :)

<samueldr> this is getting ridiculous
<samueldr> I started around 14:00, now it's 16:55 and I have x11 booting on the oneplus3
<samueldr> I received the device around noon
<tilpner> :o
<gchristensen> :O
<gchristensen> way to go!
<samueldr> touch isn't working, yet, but it's only because I just got there
<gchristensen> you're going to end up with a device lab with artificia lfingers aren't you
<samueldr> there's no plan for that
<Ox4A6F> Nice!
<samueldr> though all this porting work will be useful for you all to get things working
<gchristensen> :)
<samueldr> Ox4A6F: it looks almost identical to the axon7, from a thousand foot view
<samueldr> the storage is split about the same
<samueldr> msm8996 also
<Ox4A6F> Would be interessting, how your derivation look like.
<samueldr> soon
<samueldr> still looking at the touchscreen issue
<samueldr> the raw input device does barf data when catted
<samueldr> well
<samueldr> pretty self-explanatory I think
<t184256> How come this Gemini thing has more home row keys than the current crop of GPD/One Mix/whatever
<samueldr> they actually got someone to *design* the thing instead of simply slapping switches and keycaps on a rectangle
<samueldr> at least, that's my opinion of most "cheap chinese" reduced keyboards
<samueldr> sometimes it's because they can only realistically pick through existing designs from mfgs
<samueldr> e.g. pinebook 11.6"'s keyboard wasn't designed by pinebook, put picked from a palette of diminutive keyboards
<samueldr> not necessarily an issue to use exitsing designs
