From what I can tell reading through nixpkgs issues it looks like the plan is to go to macOS sdk 10.14. It would be nice if there was a "relatively" easy way to point nix at any SDK. I'd be fine rebuilding everything

I've packaged my own SDK into nix, but the machinery to generate the clang wrapper is pretty non-trivial, so I'm trying to just shim a faked out version llvmPackages_7 that points to the clang inside of my macos sdk 11

My goal is to use nix for reproducible builds for macOS app development, but also use nix to generate builds for linux and windows

supersandro2000: Thanks! Sorry I didn't mean to press. I'm trying to get into nix, but the barrier to entry is rather high, so I was just trying to get a feel for how hard it would be to provide my own SDK and redirect the compiler stack to build my local projects with said SDK, but via nix.

abathur: there where some recent changes to make updating easier but I am not confident merging them because I don't know the stdenv's that well
