still looking for a developer that would like to work on Darwin+Nix story in a dedicated way, starting from 1-2 days per week, possibly expanding into a full-time job if wanted
<domenkozar[m]>
one of those rare occasions to be paid for OSS work and have a huge impact on the community :)

<supersandro2000>
can you give some details?
<__monty__>
domenkozar[m]: I assume experience and recent apple hardware are requirements?
<domenkozar[m]>
I'm still brainstorming on this, hope to have the idea finalized in a week or so
<domenkozar[m]>
the budget would cover hardware
<dhess>
domenkozar[m]: Depending on the timeline, we might be able to loan out some decent hardware.
<domenkozar[m]>
perfect :)
<domenkozar[m]>
thanks dhess
<__monty__>
It's not that I'm not interested. Just assume I'm not qualified.
<dhess>
domenkozar[m]: Do you have an agenda for the first few months of work; e.g., focus on sandboxing or Apple Silicon support?
<domenkozar[m]>
my goal is for the person to have the autonomy to make the call
<domenkozar[m]>
but to setup a communication channel for fund contributors to help guide that
<domenkozar[m]>
I'd say bumping SDK, sandboxing and Silicon stuff are the priority, but I don't have the best insight
<dhess>
That sounds like the right way to go.
<dhess>
autonomy, I mean.
<domenkozar[m]>
yeah, I guess my role would be some kind of a meditor instead of a middleman
<domenkozar[m]>
so if ever things go bad I can help without being in conflict of interest, at least that's the plan
<domenkozar[m]>
that's the part I'm trying to figure out how it would work in practice
<domenkozar[m]>
since I'm not going to be paid, my involvement should be minimal :)
<dhess>
hehe
<supersandro2000>
one potential problem is that the darwin maintainers are a bit inactive right now and I wouldn't know who to ask when reviewing changes
<domenkozar[m]>
I'm not too worried about that
<domenkozar[m]>
not sure why :)
<domenkozar[m]>
a few quite knowledgeable folks that are around have so far found the time to help out
<domenkozar[m]>
I think seeing more things get addressed with get others inspired too
<domenkozar[m]>
will*
<domenkozar[m]>
I'm sure it won't be all fairy tale, expecting bumps on the way, but this doesn't sound like a blocker
<dhess>
I think the fact that the Darwin maintainers are currently pretty busy with other things is one reason why this role would be helpful :)
