<FRidh> How pure is the darwin stdenv nowadays? Is it possible to cross-compile on Linux for darwin? The reason I am asking is that the darwin builders are always quite a bit behind.

<LnL> cross-compiling is something separate and won't help with that
<LnL> but there's a merge request that enables basic builds for darwin->linux and the reverse already works AFAIK

<nikivi> how do nixOS users deal with globally installed npm packages?
<LnL> it doesn't
<Profpatsch> nikivi: Speak after me: “I will never use `-g` in npm. I will never use `-g` in npm”

<Profpatsch> Seriously: -g is a friggin dumb idea for reproducibility, and if you combine `sudo` and `-g`, you deserve what happens.
<Profpatsch> That’s a fucking rootkit you execute yourself.
<Profpatsch> (sorry for swearing"
