<Palpares>
hi. i was trying to specify variable EDITOR. turns out the bash.sessionVariables is not enough. only the initExtra worked
<rycee>
Palpares: If you change `sessionVariables` then you need to relog for the changes to take effect.
<Palpares>
the .profile file is only sourced at relog ?
<rycee>
Yes.
<Palpares>
in the configuration.nix, no need for relog for the root user
<Palpares>
I thought this was the same
<rycee>
Yeah, NixOS does source `/etc/profile` from `/etc/bashrc`.
<Palpares>
what about adding this sourcing in the initExtra ? is it bad practice
<rycee>
I'm not inclined to do that since the changed variables would only be visible in new shell processes, not in old ones, graphical applications, running services, etc.
<rycee>
At some point I'll fix so that HM switch prints a message when the session variables change warning that a relog may be necessary.
