pie_: IPSec is designed for a completely different time than we live in now... it works well, once you've gone through all the cursing and debugging to actually get it up, and you can run more or less anything over it, if configured properly

Before the main reason people would use IPSec was performance, but there are alternatives that are as fast or faster nowdays

wireguard is the main alternative that I would say perform as well/better than IPSec, but I haven't tested wireguard as much as I've used IPSec (just recently, like 1-2 months ago, threw out my IPSec in favour of wireguard, and I do not regret that at all lol)
