<andi-> arianvp: you said resolved would be socket activated and cache queries? I fail to find any hits on upstream systemd and fedora that this is indeed the fact. :/ What am I missing?
<damjan> I think it's not socket activated, but it should be dbus activated
<andi-> yeah, that makes sense
<damjan> and nss-resolve works over dbus
<damjan> OTOH they are moving to a … "varlink" socket I think, in the next release
<damjan> that'll probably get normal socket activation too
<andi-> What is varlink socket?
<{^_^}> systemd/systemd#16757 (by poettering, 9 weeks ago, merged): resolved: use varlink for communication between nss-resolve and resolved
<andi-> ah nice, it is basically what I've hoped for as dbus replacement.. just use unix sockets..
<damjan> yes, so that resolved can work without dbus
<damjan> https://github.com/systemd/systemd/pull/12230 I guess this is the first PR that added varlink in systemd
<{^_^}> systemd/systemd#12230 (by poettering, 1 year ago, merged): add simple varlink implementation + allow to move journald logging back from /var to /run
