I think I chatted about how to donate computing power, and was redirected to "we'll just whitelist you for the bot use it", and then I wandered away without getting the whitelist.

cole-h: That was one of my guesses. I agree; bad for a script have the ability to add/rm users. But a cron job/bot that tracks, notifies, cancels/aborts on response, *and also bugs one or a group of humans to close the loop whenever there's there's someone to remove at the determined interval*...

JJJollyjim: yes. in nix sandboxes we have the issue that bind mounted /nix/store paths are owned by nobody (uid=65534), which is an invalid UID. Our username space only maps the build user into the environment

Ok, so I'm working on making #21471 happen. It's an stdenv rebuild which will probably break a lot of stuff, so I think it's the sort of thing that should happen on its own hydra job before being merged into staging? Does that seem right, and if so, how do I go about making that happen?
