<zimbatm>
I still need a lot more talks, please think about this :)
<FRidh>
zimbatm: how come the conference is on week days this time?
<zimbatm>
FRidh: because London
<zimbatm>
I really wanted it to be during the weekend but then the prices where just too crazy
<FRidh>
ok, I see
<zimbatm>
like 10k / day
<zimbatm>
do you think it will be alright?
<andi->
zimbatm: how home twitter is "required" during conference signup but github isn't? Shoult it be the other way around? ;-)
<andi->
s/home/come/
<zimbatm>
let me fix this
<zimbatm>
andi-: removed required
<andi->
zimbatm: thanks, already signed up tho ;-)
<FRidh>
Right, I can imagine it gets expensive.
<andi->
zimbatm: if I would be in the city a few days earlier (vacation & foo) do you need a hand to prepare stuff?
<zimbatm>
andi-: no but we can hack on stuff together
<zimbatm>
I need a few pairs of hands *during* the conference to drive people around
<zimbatm>
it would be cool to create a nixcon logo and print some T-shirts as well
<andi->
I am probably not qualified for your weird-side driving ;-)
<zimbatm>
I don't think that there is a side for walking :)
<MichaelRaskin>
Wait what how?
<MichaelRaskin>
When I was on London there were some…

teto1: as far as my question about nix build history from a few days ago, noticed https://github.com/NixOS/nix/issues/775 - I guess that running tests and compiles automatically / non-locally is still in the backlog
<elvishjerricco>
Without it, cross compilation is basically totally broken

elvishjerricco: not individually, but just when staging merges

gchristensen: How is it decided when staging should be merged?
<dtz>
roll a d20, merge if < 3
<dtz>
(idk sorry)
<gchristensen>
elvishjerricco: afaik, when lnl or vcunat decide to :)
<elvishjerricco>
It'd be nice if before merging staging, we put it through a somewhat more rigorous test than master usually goes through. Merging staging pretty frequently causes widespread and nontrivial breakage.
<matthewbauer>
that's not what staging is really for though - it's mean to just "stack" mass rebuilds together to save resources
<matthewbauer>
we really just need to improve release.nix tests
<elvishjerricco>
I'm not suggesting continuously testing staging. Just before we merge.
<gchristensen>
it is a tough balance

<orivej>
elvishjerricco: staging is insufficiently tested before merging to master not due to the lack of tests, but due to the lack of resources to build it. https://github.com/NixOS/rfcs/pull/26 will improve this
