clever: you know some things about sparc machines, right? I'd rather like to get linux running on one of the servers I've been playing with. I've got silo loaded via the network and silo can apparently decompress linux, but I don't think I have a way to load the linux kernel itself via the network
<sphalerite>
Do you have any ideas on how to proceed?
<sphalerite>
I was hoping I could get OpenBoot to download SILO (working now) and the kernel, then SILO could uncompress it from memory where OpenBoot has loaded it
<clever>
sphalerite: when i last messed with it, i used a gentoo install ISO that i had burned to an actual cdrom, i believe
<sphalerite>
hm ok… that's hard without physical access :D
<sphalerite>
I will be going there soon though so I guess it's an option. Netboot is cooler though :p
<gchristensen>
trying to blaze a trail on a machine you can't even touch is pretty miserable %)
<sphalerite>
gchristensen: it's been done before, just a long time ago :p
<sphalerite>
also I can touch it, it just involves 20 minutes of walking each way :p
<sphalerite>
ARGH
<sphalerite>
why must tmux have bugs
<sphalerite>
crashy bugs

I'm honestly still struggling with evil mode and how I want to lay out my key bindings
<sphalerite>
how so?
<sphalerite>
Actually I've been migrating to emacs keys for some things
<sphalerite>
C-x C-s is just fewer keystrokes than :w<CR>
<infinisil>
It doesn't work in some buffers, I haven't set up key bindings for window management, and some more things
<sphalerite>
oh and I use splitting a lot less, in favour of C-x b
<infinisil>
I would like to avoid modifiers, I have started with some spacemacs like key bindings, as in SPC is a prefix for all of my commands
<infinisil>
But also I optimally want to avoid emacs windows, and use X windows instead, then I don't have to have multiple window layout key bindings and can use one for everything
<sphalerite>
yeah
<sphalerite>
there's lots of stuff I'd like to have improved, but at the same time what I have already is "good enough"
<infinisil>
Same, mostly because I'm just too lazy to configure it properly though :P
<sphalerite>
and it's a design effort as well
<infinisil>
Oh speaking of things I want: I wanna have a nixos option for colors, and such that every program uses it to set its colors. Then I can easily change color schemes for everything by setting it at one point
