<andi->
I certainly must be drunk then.. it just opens fine here
<andi->
well the parts thats NOT in the paste is that it fails. And it doesn't say why besides those nice bash warnings..
<infinisil>
Oh lol
<infinisil>
My DNS seems to be fudged
<andi->
my suspicion is that it requires 32bit support to build the other kernel which my current kernel doesn't support m(
<zybell_>
there was a thread on #nixos(-dev)? that buildscripts are called with set -u nowadays which needs to change syntax from ${var} to ${var-} or script fails by default.
<zybell_>
with these errors.
<zybell_>
you can of course change the set as a stopgap, but don't ask me about the syntax.

rages at office software some more
<sphalerite>
How is one supposed to get charts with consistent styling when there are so many individual knobs to adjust, many of them continuous scalar values?
<sphalerite>
oh and there's no way to just get back to the automatic layout
<sphalerite>
or even to adjust the font for the labels on both axes at once?
<sphalerite>
(┛◉Д◉)┛彡┻━┻
<MichaelRaskin>
>office software >consistent
<MichaelRaskin>
There are multiple things related to office document formats where the sanest path is LibreOffice — export to HTML — do the actual thing you need — import from HTML
<sphalerite>
I think the sanest path here — since the (word) documents are just the input to the process — might be just grabbing the original data and redoing the charts
<sphalerite>
any recommended tools for making simple charts? Mostly bar graphs of small amounts of data

Or some library for asymptote if really needed…
<MichaelRaskin>
Maybe for some environments matplotlib is the best bet
zybell_ has joined #nixos-chat
<sphalerite>
asymptote?
<sphalerite>
huh
<MichaelRaskin>
asymptote vector graphics language
<sphalerite>
never heard of it
<MichaelRaskin>
I switched to it when I got too annoyed by the fact that Metapost trade-offs made sense in the 1980s but not in the 2010s
<infinisil>
I haven't used any MS Office programs in years
<MichaelRaskin>
The problem is that LibreOffice — for all its benefits — is still an office software package.
<sphalerite>
yeah
<sphalerite>
office software is horrible
