I'm getting quite annoyed... it looks like I somehow made a FAT filesystem that the pi4 doesn't like

partition table is mbr on both devices, right ID (0x0B, W95 FAT32) for the partition for both

one difference, partition table-wise, is the boot flag being set on the one that doesn't boot

okay... really weird, if I remove the `old` directory from a device that did boot, it stops booting. I'm talking about the stock nixos rpi4 image

I also realize that I never reproduced "deleting the old directory breaks next boot" with an SD card, but only from USB
