samueldr: With mobile-Nixos, do you have any mobile user interfaces packaged?

<samueldr>
something to be done
<samueldr>
I'm starting full time on mobile-nixos, and it's among the things to do
<duncan>
What hardware do you use?
<samueldr>
whatever I have around :)
<gchristensen>
lol
<samueldr>
though, a better answer is that I have an Asus Zenfone 2 Laser (Z00T) as my "main" target, that's known to work
<duncan>
I suppose I ought to rephrase, what’s your workflow and primary device - do you have a proof of concept?
<samueldr>
I have the pinephone devkit as the other "main" target for now
<samueldr>
z00t boots up to stage-2, pinephone devkit too
<samueldr>
why "up to stage-2"?
<samueldr>
because that's where I'm at :
<samueldr>
:)
<duncan>
Ah, cool, that’s not bad
<samueldr>
yeah, I'm not worried with going into stage-2; I was more worried about making sure things worked
<duncan>
I find all this stuff thrilling but my skills in hardware adaption are severely lacking
<samueldr>
I have adbd working on 32 bit ARM (nexus 7 2013), but not on aarch64 :/
<samueldr>
I have the display working on all my devices
<duncan>
adbd natively on Nix?
<samueldr>
yeah
<duncan>
Gosh, admiration escalating ^^
<samueldr>
so I can `adb shell` and am dumped in the busybox sh from stage-1 (since there's no stage-2 yet)
<samueldr>
though not worried that'll scale to stage-2
<duncan>
At the moment, I’ve been preparing documentation about my Sailfish+Nix setup and quirks, but didn’t get too far
<duncan>
I am hoping it might be possible in the future to get Silica running on a NixOS base but I am reluctant to spend time on it because it is proprietary
<samueldr>
duncan: what's silica? (the term is a bit generic!)
<duncan>
The Sailfish UI
<samueldr>
ah!
<duncan>
(Sorry)
<samueldr>
no worries :)
<samueldr>
not sure, I haven't investigated how that one works, and probably won't really look
<duncan>
It is a reasonable and complete mobile UI with some element of QA
<samueldr>
though, does it work outside of a built-for-sailfish system image?
<samueldr>
if it does, then I guess it would be possible
<duncan>
This is the problem; it’s not well documented and is designed to integrate with the UIs provided by Hybris
<duncan>
The Ubuntu touch work and KDE Plasma mobile appear to be polished and flexible, and OSS. I suspect it is a toss up between the two
<duncan>
I feel bad because I’m not much good at this, and talk is cheap
