SovereignBleak: absolutely no way to know up until it's in the hand of contributors
<samueldr>
but... it does run Linux
<samueldr>
so chances are great
<samueldr>
and other pine64 RK3399 based hardware is known to work
<samueldr>
and other non-pine64 RK3399 hardware too
<SovereignBleak>
samueldr: I'm excited to hear about your experiences! I won't order one until I've heard from at least one tester how it works on NixOS
<samueldr>
so, I guess it'll be a question of when, not if
<samueldr>
a sage decision

<andi->
highly-offtopic but probably the next audience for this: Has anyone build a linux bzImage with EFI-Stub an exchanged the initial ramdisk after compilation? I am toying with having a nixos powered "bootloader" that speaks both proper disk crypto, network and fancy filesystems.. All I can find is that some people say it can be done (I can't find the sections in the binary) :/
<samueldr>
what's with everyone building their linux-based bootloader?
<samueldr>
and I'm not talking about the publicly known projects either :)
<samueldr>
I think that makes 5 here wanting to do it, or doint it
<samueldr>

<andi->
well I am a bit sick of being restricted in my partitioning by what grub offers
<samueldr>
I am too!
<andi->
also maintaining more custom grub patches isn't something I want to get into
<samueldr>
and it may be necessary for some (most) android devices
<samueldr>
or at the very least, the easiest option
<andi->
I would sleep much better at night if I had a heads style boot (on UEFI with secureboot).
<samueldr>
I know at least two other users have the same needs than you do, wondering how much help or hinderance it would be to get people working together for that need
<andi->
I had a chat about it with qyliss on mastodon and we already thought about teaming up
<andi->
maybe something for the hackday at NixCon if do not "solve" it until then
