<das_j> Did my bouncer bounce this session or did I just join?
<clever> das_j: youve ben connected for over 24 hours
<das_j> clever: Thank you!
<das_j> samueldr: Btw, I didn't finish building the kernel yesterday, but I just figured it *might* be a good idea to bump up the nix cores. Now it's a lot faster for obvious reasons
<das_j> Wouldn't it be a good idea to set the cores to 4 for raspberry pis?
<das_j> Or to 0?
<clever> das_j: semi related, i was building some webkit stuff with -j8 on an 8core machine, and half way thru the build, it hit a clump of gcc's that wanted 2gig of ram each
<clever> which totals 16gig :P
<das_j> clever: wtf
<das_j> building webkit is probably as bad as building firefox
<clever> luckily i have 32gig of ram, so the only casualty was some chrome renderer procs
<sphalerite> use the zram!
<das_j> or a swap ;)
<sphalerite> swap? What is this, the 90s?
<sphalerite> :p
<sphalerite> swap? Isn't that where tmpfs goes?
<clever> sphalerite: i tried to make a 40gig swap to support hibernation when i setup this laptop
<clever> i got the units wrong, and now have 40mb of swap!
<das_j> Yes, hibernation is probably the only reason
<clever> also, zfs doesnt support hibernation at all
* sphalerite hibernates to zram
<sphalerite> lol
<das_j> sounds like a great idea
<sphalerite> ok, idea: persistent zram devices!
<das_j> wait, the criu guys had a similar idea
<das_j> No, that's not similar, nvm
<clever> sphalerite: that reminds me, i heard about intel packaging their new optane flash into dimm modules, because thats the only bus on the system fast enough to keep up
<clever> das_j: wow
<das_j> btw, is ghc unsupported on aarch64 or is ist just broken on nix?
<sphalerite> I think the latter
<sphalerite> or like
<sphalerite> parallel building is broken for aarch64
<das_j> oh no

<andi-> Ouch
<makefu> i know that feel bro
<andi-> The amounts of time I lost due to compiling multiple fitefox versions at the same time and running out of space on /tmp :/
