thinking about a test infra... if a SBC is a slave of another, and they both have serial, then I wouldn't need a serial interface? wondering if the ground pin would be plugged between both, but pretty sure tx and rx would be swapped

samueldr: gnd must be connected, for the signals on rx and tx to mean anything

I think the next issue would be controlling the other board; powering it off and on, possibly with a relay; it shouldn't be powered from the same source as the gadget board as not giving enough power is an issue
